Some Washington pundits are developing a new narrative for President Obama: the coming of the centrist. It’s a narrative that expects history to repeat itself; something history rarely does.
It’s along these lines:
The shellacking that the president and his Democrats are taking on health care reform, the stimulus, and cap and trade will grind these and other initiatives to a halt. Democrats will lose one or both houses of Congress in November 2010. Republican majorities will serve as a useful counterbalance to a president whose hard left will continually nip at his heels. A chaste president will govern from the center. Doing so, Mr. Obama will be reelected. His second term will be filled with sensible compromises between congressional Republicans and himself.
Seem familiar?
Could it turn out that Mr. Obama does a reprise of the Clinton presidency? It’s possible, but is it likely?

I hope he stays true to himself. He’ll be much easier to get rid of in 2012 if he does...maybe sooner.
He may pretend to, with his words, but I doubt that his actions can change. He is too much of an anti American radical to change.
Clinton II? Seems unlikely to me. Say what you want about about Clinton, politically stupid he wasn't. Self preservation meant everything to him.
Not so, I believe, for Zer0. For him, ideology means everything. Besides, I don't think, and I never have, that he's all that smart, politically or otherwise.
I'm betting he digs his heels in, which means he digs his own political grave.

Obama could pack a picnic lunch and walk to the right all day, and still not have moved appreciably closer to the center....
He’s way too far down the communist road to move back to center. IMHO, I feel he thinks he is the ‘center’. Look at the entire Congress, they are so out of touch with REAL America it is pathetic.
He could move to the Vatican and ask for absolution and I still won’t trust the guy !!!!!
Will Obama move to the center?
There are three chances that he could, defined as “Fat”, “Slim”, and “No”.
Obama would not know what the “center” is if it rose up and slapped him in the face. Over in that fever swamp he exists in, there is no concept of a different world that is quite competent and ethical, and proven over and over in historical context.

To stay the course Obama would have to hold core beliefs that modulate his personal ambition. Clinton’s move to the center showed that he wanted the office more than he actually believed in anything, and I think the ‘Bama is no different. If the left thinks his radical America-hating agenda threatens his re-election, he’ll change. We can only hope he doesn’t, because he’s shown us liberalism carried to its logical conclusion, and America is repulsed and terrified by it.
