Howard resting after health scare (John Howard, former PM of Australia)

FORMER prime minister John Howard is resting at home after spending two nights in hospital because of a severe allergic reaction to an anaesthetic on Friday. Opposition frontbencher Tony Abbott says Mr Howard, 70, was able to enjoy Father's Day at home in Wollstonecraft in Sydney's north on Sunday after he was discharged that morning from Royal North Shore Private Hospital.

”I spoke to him this afternoon and he was chirpy, joking and saying what a pleasant Father's Day he'd had,” Mr Abbott said.

He said Mr Howard was having some routine dental treatment on Friday at Castlecrag Private Hospital when he suffered an anaphylactic reaction to the anaesthetic.

I’d like to know the name of the anesthetic that was used.
