Iran: the Green Movement
Australia Journal ^ | 9/6/09 | Slater Bakhtavar

“The Iranians are suffering from the policies in the last four years, they have been humiliated all over the world and I really feel sorry for these people.” Mir-Hossein Mousavi

The last four years (2005-2009) have been worse than ever for Iranian civilians due to the reign of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Historically, most presidents have acted as “counterweights” to the extreme ideologies of the Supreme Leader but unfortunately Ahmadinejad made those ideologies even more of a reality for the people of Iran by echoing them. Angry at the previous four years of Ahmadinejad’s presidency, the Iranian civilians, mainly the “student population, were determined to stop the re-election of Ahmadinejad in the 2009 election. (In Iran the presidential term is four years in length and a person can only serve two consecutive terms).

How convenient that 0bama and Van Jones are promoting “Green for All” on September 11th.
The terrorists really have finally won.

Just in case anyone is unclear, green is the color of Islam.

We can relate to that, Dem Congress and TELEPOTUS.

“It is important to recognise that this generation of Iranians, almost every civilian under the age of 30, does not feel the least bit aligned with the ideologies or practices of the Islamic Republic. They live in a country that doesn’t represent their generation in anyway whatsoever …”

Just in case anyone is unclear, green is the color of Islam.

True enough, but it misses the point of the book. Mousavi took green, bright green, as the color for his campaign, and that bright green is the color of his movement.

If you follow the link you'll see this is about the latter, not the former.

I’m aware of this.
Mousavi used green specifically because it is the color of Islam.
I was just reminded by this how 0bama and Van Jones are hijacking 9/11 to promote “Green for All” now.
Coincidence?

I guess this makes 0bama and Van Jones 9/11 hijackers.

Yes he did, but I've seen differences between two groups of Iranians (pro-Shah Muslims vs. Pro-Mousavi) over the colors. The bright green is definitely Mousavi, but the "natural" green has been taken on by other groups not all of whom are extremist Muslims -- it is also the color of (some of) those who want a true republic in Iran.

"Green for Now" just confuses things with the environmentalist and energy-efficiency movements. I believe it will work to the detriment of those who drive both movements.

The question is, which movement is 0bama really trying to advance on 9/11?

What are you talking about? Obama supports the Iranian government it’s the conservatives and the Republican party who support the people, freedom and democracy the people of Iran.

You should learn the ideology of the Republican party when it comes to foreign policy because you sound 100% like an Obama supporter.

I’m not talking about 0bama’s position on Iran. You’re reading in something that I never said.
I just said 0bama is promoting “Green (the color of Islam) for All” on September 11th.
I’m making a general connection with 0bama promoting of Islam on 9/11, not Mousavi’s Green movement.

To further clarify, I do support Mousavi’s Green movement.
You can see some images I created on my FReeper page editorializing on 0bama’s Iran response.

But it should not be overlooked that Mousavi chose green for his movement to appeal to Islam, not unlike how an American politician would likely choose red, white and blue for their campaign colors.

And likewise, it deserves noting that 0bama has also chosen green as the color of his 9/11 campaign.
