Silent No More? Conservative Books and Blogs on the Rise
Fox News ^ | September 02, 2009 | Maxim Lott

Book sales ... blog visits ... tea parties ... town halls ... a national poll ... There is increasing evidence of a shift in the political winds: the nation is swinging right after President Obama's victory last November.

A recent Gallup poll found that people who identify themselves as conservatives now outnumber liberals in every state. And that tilt is reflected in book sales, with three political books by conservative authors listed in the Top 10 New York Times nonfiction bestsellers: "Culture of Corruption" by Michelle Malkin, "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark R. Levin, and "Catastrophe" by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann.

There are no political books written by liberals on the list.

Some media analysts say it's a sign that the mainstream news media are biased and out of touch, which is driving conservatives to find their information in other forms of media.

Some media experts say that what's happening now reflects a more fundamental shift toward conservative writing -- both in books and on the Internet -- caused by an elite media that ignores conservative voices.

"In the old analog era, New York's elite media could get away with ignoring much of the rest of the country, perhaps even having a certain disdain for parochial Americans who didn't see things their way," DePaul University journalism professor Bruce Evensen said.

"Now, in the digital age, these 'savages' are having their revenge. Conservatives dominate much of the blogosphere in news and information, because for so many years liberals have dominated [old media]."

Liberal analysts agree that conservative book sales are up, but they say it's due solely to angry conservatives, not perceived media bias.

"The right has always complained about a phantom liberal bias in the media, so that doesn't strike me as a likely cause," said Peter Hart, activism director at Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting.

Same thing happened in 1993 and 1994, remember Rush’s December 1993 book “See I told you so” ??

All republicans have to do is stay out of power to promote conservatism, because in power they borrow and spend and waste like democrats and change the country to liberals.

Congressman Lynch of Massachusetts is throwing his hat into the ring for dead fat Teddy's Senate seat.

Lynch has been making noise concerning his not exactly on board with the National Health Care plan that the Obama crazies are propagating.

Just another weasel indeed, but his reluctance to fully support Obama Care is significant. Being from Boston and all of that.

Watch this space for updates.

LOL!!

That's true. The GOP is better off out of power.

It's becoming more and more apparent that the more government is divided, the better.

Maybe next time around we’ll have a conservative nominee on the ballot.

By far, the most encouraging of these is Mark Levin's "Liberty and Tyranny," because that is precisely the question before America today!

Over the past several decades, the ideas of liberty as defined and articulated brilliantly by the Founders in 1776 in their Declaration of Independence and in 1787, by their structuring of a "We, the People's" limited government Constitution for a free people--those ideas have been systematically censored from the nation's textbooks and from public discourse.

Their writings could be found only in dusty stacks in remote libraries, and in a few books published now and then.

Technology has changed that!

Now, they and the classical writings which preceded them are available online, and citizens are taking advantage of it and educating themselves on the nature of their liberty and on the means by which it can be taken from them.

The amazing sales of "Liberty and Tyranny" are encouraging, and they are threatening to the Far Left who have been working so steadily for years to eliminate the Founders' ideas from the landscape so that they can arrogate power to themselves and bypass the Constitution's limitations.

Those who wish to study and combat tyranny should visit the web site of Liberty USA Foundation, of Wallbuilders, and others who have hundreds of founding-era documents available for reading and download. The National Center for Constitutional Studies also has materials that are invaluable in enlightening citizens as to their rights, and a Bicentennial Year of the Constitution (1987) volume entitled "Our Ageless Constitution," which has been out of print for about 20 years has been reprinted and is available at here .

Yes, the Founders are silent no more! They must be delighted, for they thought they had secured liberty for posterity, but as Washington and others warned, danger could come "from within," by "neglect" (Justice Story). Just as the Founders wished, "We, the People" have been animated by threats to our liberty, and we are "silent no more."

And to think they accomplished this dominance of the top ten without a single book from me! Seriously, my new one, “Seven Events that Made America, America” will be out late Spring 2010.
