-snip-
Below is a partial list of some items that we may want to attend to:
* Pass an amendment that takes away lifetime appointments to the Supreme Court. The lifetime tenures were intended to insure that these lawyers would be above politics. Instead, they have used their position to foist politically biased, unwanted, unnecessary, and unconstitutional laws upon a resistant American public.
Power has routinely been abused, and misused, by this handful of pompous attorneys.
* Impose term limits on the members of Congress (as well as the members of the Supreme Court)no more lengthy free rides at the tax payers expense. They work for us, but obviously have forgotten that, and need to be remindedpowerfully.
* Initiate a total overhaul of our educational system. No more anti-American indoctrination. Our children should be taught to honor and respect Americas freedom and history. The Far Left radicals that have destroyed our colleges and universities must go.
Reason, logic, and truth must be returned to their rightful place at the center of our institutions of higher learning.
* Stop illegal immigration. Now.
* Make lobbying Congress illegal. There is no reason for lobbyists to have access to our elected officials. Just because it is business as usual in Washington, is no reason to continue this insidious practice. The lobbyists pervert and undermine our entire legislative system.
* Overturn Roe v. Wade and, as importantly, Doe v. Bolton, which was passed at the same time. It is Doe v. Bolton that defines the nature of what constitutes a danger to a womans health so broadly, that even third-trimester abortions are covered. Over 80% of the American public opposes third-trimester abortions. The Supreme Court doesnt carefive puffed-up lawyers dictating lifestyles to the rest of us.

The onslaught against the United States has moved in so quickly that only quick action will defeat it.
And with the term limits, abolish the pensions and health care coverages of elected officials.
Here’s another one.
“Reason, logic, and truth must be returned to their rightful place at the center of our institutions of higher learning.”
Public schools have never been about those things.
Amen to all the above!!!!!!!
The process of amending the constitution to enact term limits would require a majority of congress and ratification by (maybe someone can help with this number) 2/3 or 3/4 of the states.
That's like puttin the coyote in charge of the hen house...then asking the coyotes to pass a ordinance that mandated all coyotes become vegetarians.
Seems slim to none and slims left town.
Good column. And I just swiped the quote at the beginning for my tagline.
Congress ought not to be allowed to exempt themselves from the legislation they deem to impose on the rest of us. If it’s “for the good of the people,” it ought to be good enough for them. Are they not part of the people? They don’t seem to think so. Representative? Ha! No more exemptions.
I’m curious about the author’s mechanism for implementing these reforms.
When you can’t even win an election, voting doesn’t seem a particularly likely way to get such drastic reforms passed. They would obviously require massive amendment or even replacement of the constitution, which requires something like 80% approval to get through.
Which leaves military coup or armed revolt, either of which would almost certainly lead to civil war.
Not a reason to back down, necessarily, but it’s always a good idea to think thru the possible consequences of one’s rhetoric.
We’ll fix it.
One way or another.
This extends well beyond the SCOTUS. Congress has a large percentage of attorneys amongst it's members. It's been shown that a large percentage of attorneys have their undergraduate degrees in things like history, social science or other "touchy/feely" liberal arts. You don't see too many attorneys that have undergraduate degrees in engineering, science, mathematics or medicine where decisions and conclusions are derived from facts rather than feelings. This, in and of itself, is a large part of the problem. Far too many of our elected officials are attorneys and have never had to do any critical thinking were the essence of that thinking based in fact....
Until they listen, defund Washington.
Where will we draw the line?
When will we say enough??
What will finally provoke spontaneous direction action???
It is time we demand that all Americans who have pledged an oath to the U.S. Constitution defend and protect it, NOW.
Opening a Constitutional Convention is a dangerous proposition, too, especially when one considers that there are many among us who are ignorant of the philosophy that crafted that magnificent document. Opening a Constitutional Convention would invite all sorts of proposals for modification of the Constitution, not just the stated goal of term limits or, as Fair Tax supporters would like, to abolish the 16th Amendment.
I would bet cold, hard cash if you asked 100 people on the street to define the Federalist Papers less than 10 out of that 100 could do so with any degree of accuracy, much less cite any of their content. The excessive ignorance about the document, including how and why it was written is astonishing. On that basis alone it makes the notion of calling a Constitutional convention tenuous at best. Look at the number of people who claim that health care is a "right", yet they cannot name one other recognized, established right under our Constitution that deprives another citizen of their life or property, yet that is precisely what the "right to health care" would entail.
In fact, because of this, I will go back and re-read the Federalist papers and the constitution to refresh myself.
It's been many years sense I've read them.
I for one do not believe a constitutional convention will be called, but I never thought a commie Kenyan would ever take the reigns of the free world either.
Appreciate your post.
The time is......NOW!
However, that would take complicity on the part of employers to stop withholding FICA and Federal taxes. They would be prosecuted by the federales to the full extent of our bogus laws that were designed not to protect the people, but to protect the criminal government.
Desperate times call for desperate action.
At the end of a gun barrel, that's how.
