The 'Green' Trojan Horse

Domestic Policy: Among the many controversies swirling around the White House's "green czar," none is more disturbing than his plan to use the green movement to socialize the economy.

Van Jones, a special adviser to the president, revealed his Trojan-horse strategy during a 2008 interview on leftist Uprising Radio in Los Angeles.

"The green economy will start off as a small subset" of a "complete revolution" away from "gray capitalism" and toward "redistribution of all the wealth," he said. "And we are going to push it and push it and push it until it becomes the engine for transforming the whole society."

A self-described "communist," Jones caught heat recently for calling Republicans "a**holes." He's also a 9/11 "truther" as it turns out, one of many red flags in a radical past that, remarkably, didn't disqualify him from shaping domestic policy in this White House.

Jones apologized for his "inappropriate" remarks concerning Republicans while distancing himself from the nutty people calling for an investigation of the Bush administration for bombing the Twin Towers on 9/11. Jones signed a petition pushing for such a witch hunt, even though the Ivy League lawyer claims he didn't know what he was signing.

But he hasn't been made to answer for his communist beliefs, which are even deeper than first thought.

Trying to change the subject, Jones insisted his work at the White House is "entirely focused on one goal: building clean-energy incentives which create 21st century jobs that improve energy efficiency and use renewable resources."

I’m an electrician, laid off since February. The only jobs I’ve been getting interviewed for is for “photovoltaic (solar power)installer”. Building is dead and I don’t see it coming back anytime soon, we’ve basically have been in a boom since Reagan, it has burst.

The Commonwealth has pretty tough requirements to become a licensed electrician & it’s heavily regulated. You have to be a master electrician to run an electrical contracting business (more than 2 emplyees, working 3rd party, etc), even two licensed journeymen can’t go into business with each other, yet these companies have no licenses & just want to hire journeymen to pull permits.

They seemed to be getting away with it to date. A non-electrician not licensed to do electrical work legally, yet they “borrow” the license of journeymen electricians not authorized to conduct 3rd party contracts and get away with it. Bizarre. Especially since the Libs are responsible for all the regs in the first place.

Another big thing I notice is that none of these “green companies” offer medical insurance like most real contractors do. Seems they are counting on the government to provide it for their employees.

They all want to know “how do you feel about working for a green company” I say cash is fine as long as it’s paid by Friday.

So basically I’m planning on retraining myself (in solar) to go back into business and into competition with them, hate to say it but that’s where the money is going till 2012. And I really don’t have a problem getting off foreign oil either, I just think nuke plants are where the country should be heading, but it is not happening for a while.

Lastly I noticed that in the back of a solar book I bought the other day was a postcard that said they also publish books on “activism”, at some point they need to relize we’re not going to run this country on wind & solar, that at best it will provide less than 10% of our power, They need to shift from activism to pragmanism.

.You didn’t realize that solar will be enough because the green czar will ban air conditioning, central heat,TV screens bigger than 19 inches,TVs that tune to more than one channel, private cars, etc.?And you won’t have the money to buy and need to refrigerate food when simply standing in line for hours at the gov’t cooperative for your weekly loaf of bread, pound of beans, and egg(one,NOT a dozen.)

I HAVE DIFFICULTY FEELING SORRY FOR PEOPLE WHO MAKE HIGH WAGES MOSTLY BECAUSE THEIR JOB IS LICENSED AND REGULATED TO KEEP COMPETITION OUT. ELECTRICAL WIRING ISN’T SO DIFFICULT THAT AN ORDINARY PERSON CAN’T LEARN HOW TO SAFELY DO BASIC 110/220 SINGLE PHASE WORK IN A FEW DAYS.

I hate hearing stuff like that, and am completely unsurprised.

Any engineer with half a clue will tell you that we won't be running a modern technological society on wind, solar, unicorns, and Magic Energy. There is *maybe* the possibility of a solar photovoltaic breakthrough, but it isn't here yet, and there's still the difficult issue of storage for night time and cloudy periods.

You are completely correct on the need for a shift to more nuclear power. The French and the Japanese Get It.

Well, I’d prefer MY wiring be done by a licensed electrician. Fewer house fires that way. (The number of houses burning because of BAD wiring is high—most of them done by people who, like you, think they can do as good a job as an electrician.)

***I’m an electrician, laid off since February.***

You might try puting in an application with American Electric Power (AEP). They are building a new coal fired power plant outside of Texarkana Arkansas.

That is, unless the Greeneies stop them.

I can handle most simple 110 stuff around the house. My house is an older one and I have found some problems. A few I fixed and a few others an electrician handled. At times I think I would make a fairly good one but with the economy the way it is, I have put off any vocational training for a long time.

I can’t I disagree with much of what you say, however, those are the rules in place that legally are in place and which I and 30,000+ have been required to follow, till now, at the benefit of those who put the rules in place in the first place.

I’m a residential / commercial electrician and work on systems up to 600 volts, the largest system I installed was a 15,0000 amp service, not sure if they teach that at Home Depot.

Yeah, I think we will be throwing a bunch of money down the “Green” drain, hundreds of billions before the nation wakes up.

We need nuke plants.

My first reply didn’t make too much sense, this might not either but what I meant was:

Those are the rules in place, that legally I and 30,000+ other electricians here have been required to follow for decades, till now. Regulated by the state for the benefit of the unions and now they want to change the rules to pay back Green companies who funded their elections.

I notice the author of this piece tries to claim there is no evidence that Van Jones and Barry Obama share the same goals. THAT is at best a foolish naivete. Not only that, Jones is much more involved with the current legislation of cap&tax and the Stimulus bill than the author seesm to realize or want to acknowledge.

The Apollo Alliance was founded by Van Jones, on a grant program from the Tides Foundation where past domestice terrorist Wade Rathke settled. The people on the board of the Apollo Alliance are traceable back to Soros and Center for American Progress, where John Podesta sits chairing the funds Soros funnels into transforming America.

Jones's vision was to combine the social justice (read community activism), the green movement, and unions under one Alliance to muscle their way into powerful transformations of society. The Appollo Alliance was thanked openly by Harry Reid for helping to fashion bills the democrat and republican legislators did not read before passing, and indeed could not have read since massive additions were made to bills which first exited committee as 400 pages then exploded to more than a thousand pages right before votes were scheduled.

There is a socialist/commie stretagy for crashing a capitalist system known as the Colward-Piven strategy. It was initially designed to overburden welfare systems, to crash the system and foment anarchy. The same strategy works if applied to energy production and consumption, siphoning off to green/social justice, and unions the usery fees paid int he new cap and tax system. Cloward Piven will also work to crash the governemtn run healthcare system.

The idea is to make so much of the struggling economy dependant upon government dole that the dole source crashes and a new system sweeps the old Republic away to be replaced by a hybrid commie/fascist system of government run industries and governemnt controlled industries, all overseen by the world-wide banking moguls. The final realization of world government/world order may be/is at most two decades away, but the first major steps that must be accomplished first include crashing the American economic engine, to neutralize U.S. and silence our ability to respond to threats to our sovereignty and safety.

Folks don't want to believe it possible, but the Obama commie regime has already instituted major portions of what is needed to be in place for suspension of the Constitutional Republic and rule of law in response to a major catastrophe. Such a castastrophe is waiting to be triggered with Israel striking Iran's nuclear capabilities, in order to protect their national survival. And who could blame them for doing it. BUT the result will be oil at $300 a barrel and a halt to American economic dominance int eh world. We have been set up for this eventuality over decades, by the same demcorat party now controlling the governemnt, by preventing our own 'drill here, drill now' solution to greater energy independence. Folks, the Democratic Party is a commie org now and communism has won the only temporarily suspended cold war.

America is falling to communists and black racist elected as hope and change, floated on a racist extortion wave and enabled by men like Bush afraid to challenge the race riot potential if they enfoced the Constitution. Now, it is too late to enforce that which Republcians and conservatives can no longer call up without taking up arms in bloody revolt. And that revolt will not happen when the price of oil hits $300/barrel because the misery index will be so high, only survival will be on folks' minds. Feed me will be the mantra rather than free me.

The guns and ammo in our hands will serve to help defend hearth and home and family, but they will never be fired to depose the criminal enterprise democrat usurpers.

I won't deny that not everyone does a good job;but I've had opportunity to see homes under construction by "professionals" and seen plenty of questionable work, like 14 gauge wire used to feed baseboard electric heaters. Not to mention the common use of boring holes so large they must weaken the studs ,and no steel reinforcement plates used.Too often the temptation to hold costs down when using expensive labor results in the minimum code-acceptable materials being used. But since I charge myself nothing for labor on MY own buildings,I can afford to use a size larger wire, etc.

I still maintain that the average person can ,easily learn HOW to hook up residential wiring of the 110/220 branch circuits, the breaker box, even the wiring to the meter. The QUESTION that does arise is whether the person will take the time to do it properly.None of the tasks are particularly difficult ,there are widely available charts and codebooks, and wiring and terminals are marked and color-coded.

Working with energized wiring is another matter ,and I found myself working on "hot " circuits up to 408/440 in commercial maintenance. But I was cautious and used a tester to verify the wire state every time before touching it ,used insulated tools, and lockouts.

I do not advocate anyone trying commercial unguided, nor high-voltage work without formal training.

Still;being forced to pay $100 to have a $1 light switch replaced is ridiculous ,considering any person who can read and use a screwdriver can do that repair in 15 minutes.

You are right about that to a degree. I think regulation has gone way too far in a lot of areas, including building and construction permits and inspections.

I will say that there are people who can't find their rear with both hands. I really wouldn't want to buy a house wired by these ineducable fools.

That said, there are a some people in the trades that I wouldn't trust either. I guess that is where an inspection is a good thing. It can't catch everything, but it can help find major problems.

As for me, I do all my own wiring. I do my own plumbing and carpentry too.
