Some Parents Choose Not to Allow Their Kids to Hear Obama's National Address
Regine Gordon, of Tampa, Fla., is among a growing number of parents across the country who are troubled by Obama's plan to address elementary, middle and high school students directly on Tuesday.

Gordon, of Tampa, Fla., is among a growing number of parents across the country who are troubled by the president's plan to address elementary, middle and high school students in an online and televised speech Tuesday.
"It's a form of indoctrination, and I think, really, it's indicative of the culture that the Obama administration is trying to create," Gordon told FOXNews.com on Thursday. "It's very socialistic."
After writing letters to her congressmen and school officials, Gordon said her son, David, will be allowed to participate in an alternative activity at Gorrie Elementary School during Obama's address, which comes on the first day of school for many children.
"I'm waiting to hear from his teacher, but I have told them to go ahead and I'd like [David] to go do something else," Gordon said. "It's kind of like going through the children to get to their parents. Children are very vulnerable and excited. I mean, this is the president. I think it's an underhanded tactic and indicative of the way things are being done."
But some parents won't be allowed to "opt-out" their kids everywhere. At least one school district, Tempe Elementary School District No. 3 in Arizona, is not permitting parents to pull their children out of class during Obama's speech.
"I have directed principals to have students and teachers view the president's message on Tuesday," Superintendent of Schools Dr. Arthur Tate Jr. said in a statement Thursday. "In some cases, where technology will not permit access to th...

FINALLY, parents are beginning to care about the politicization of pubskewls.
Bummer shouldn’t count on favorable memories by the up and coming voter crowd.
I hadn’t thought of that aspect. Maybe these kids should see Obama in action. It is going to be live, right?
Snooze fest...
Also curious is the fact that in at least 3 states...the pulbic skrewel students won't even be IN class until the 9th.
Agenda? Naw. Of course not.
The American people have some major voting out to do.
Neuter them in 2010 and vote the rest out in 2012
If this is an "purely educational event", then what are the kids being "educated" on. I personally don't see any educational value in this whatsoever.
Question, does Arizona have a parent's bill of rights?
Why would I want my kids to listen to a lying socialist speaking as if he is some great authority? {expletive}-no my kids will not be listening to o-the-lying-sob.
If I still had kids in school and the principal did not have an opt out plan then we would be spending that day at the zoo or kids museum or something.
I have to believe that the WH has been really taken back by the reaction to this address. I wonder if anyone in the administration is awake enough to see what is starting, taking root and growing everyday.
Who is Dr. Tate to decide that parents can’t exempt their children from this?? If I had children in that situation, I can guarantee I’d be pulling them from school. Perhaps he means there won’t be an alternative event planned. That is the right of the school to decide, but to tell parents they can’t opt their children out?? How does, “My child won’t be at school that day” sound?? Sounds like a sure-fire opting-out to me!
“_______Believes no one should die because they cannot afford health care, and no one should go broke because they get sick.”...this is what many of the young Facebook posters are posting today so why should it surprise me that they see nothing wrong with nationalized healthcare nor the government indoctrination of the children. Most of the young parents have come through a curriculum where history has been rewritten and they have already been brainwashed.
My Kid’s school, in Scottsdale AZ, just shot down the prospect of listening to the “one” drivel to our children. They will NOT be watching the show, thank you.
The ‘educative’ event for Dr. Tate should be his immediate dismissal!!!
Tempe superintendent’s quote - “I am not permitting parents to opt out students from viewing the president’s message, since this is a purely educational event.”
I don’t think the super has authority to “...not permit parents to opt out students...”
Let Obama speak in the evening, and parents who so desire can allow their kids to watch at home.

What an arrogant pos. The idea that a “public servant” is in a position to “permit parents” anything is ludicrous on the face of it.
Pretty sure a lot of kids will be reported “sick” as in their parents are “sick” of this crap, on tuesday.
This is a short story written by James Clavell. Mr. Clavell was very concerned about Big Brother using the education system to brainwash (yes, brainwash) children. Please read and share with others:

Well, for one thing, what's to stop the a-hole from showing a recording of it to your kids when they do come back to school?
I don't even know yet if my grand kid's school has plans to show it at all, I'll be finding out in the morning. It's a pretty conservative district and they may choose not to.
If they are going to show it, I will let them know that my wards will not be viewing it because they won't be there that day and they damn'd well better not show it to them at a later date.
If they somehow force them to do it, my options are limited to; Either finding the person directly responsible and beat the holy hell outta him/her or enroll the kids in the nearest church school for about $8,000 for the two of them. Since I'm too old to do time I will probably choose the latter option.
Oh. really? Is this Dr. Tate part of the Obama propaganda effort, or is he just a fool?
