This is one reason I don't see Mary Landrieu voting for cap and trade, it could cost her her job if she did.

Nice that the Democrats are allowing China, Cuba and Russia to drill in our backyard. With finds like this continuing we wouldn’t need to import oil.

Come on, folks.
Everybody knows we're running out of oil. /sarc

I wouldn’t get too excited yet. Hussein will no doubt put the find off limits. Gotta help his oil buddies in the middle east.

Don’t count on it...she tows the party line pretty well and marches to the orders of the “anointed one” However, this is a nice find and an asset to take with us when we secede....lol

The thought of Cuba, with the help of the ChiComs, drilling for oil 45 or so miles off the coast of Florida just makes my blood boil. And then they will sell this oil they extract, oil we are capable of drilling for but not allowed to drill for. It makes me sooooooo mad!!

You sound like my neighbor in regard to Landrieu. Lets hope they don't bring in cheap foreign labor for this.

0bama will give it over on a permanent lease to the Chinese, since they’ll already be busy in the Gulf of Mexico drilling for the Cubans.

Did the rig explosion and current oil spill happen in the Tiber Prospect which discovery was reported in 2009? Here's a freeper thread from that time.
Anyone happen to know?

Nope two different locations......
The oil spill is located in the block entitled "MC" [Mississippi Canyon] which is just above the word LOWER.

The Tiber was in the Keathley Canyon which is more west or about due south of the Texas/Louisiana border.

You really want to see what the Gulf of Mexico looks like from a drilling standpoint. The following link will give you a prespective of just how huge it is in terms of leases, etc.
Click the link below, give it a few seconds to load as it is big at some 16MB and then expand it to something like 75 - 100% so it is legible to read. Then scan around and see what the oil/gas industry has out there in terms of opportunity.
