More than 35 million Americans received food stamps in June, up 22 percent from June 2008 and a new record as the country continued to grapple with the worst recession since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

How many of those “Americans” are illegal aliens?
35 million guaranteed Dem votes... and climbing.
Obama’s fault.
I worked in a grocery store while in college.
They eat better than the vast majority of us.
Funny thing about these food stamps; they taste just like paper.
Looks like 0bama's socialist solutions to the economy isn't working too well. I wonder how much longer Americans will put up with this fraud and his "czars".
That is really interesting.
In May or June, here on FR, there were threads about the $25/week increase in unemployment payments that NObama shoved at recipients- they could not turn it down- has placed many food stamp collectors into the position of no longer qualifying for food stamps, because of the $25/week increase in income.
Are there any more details to address this conflict of information?

“Up next is a ballot box filled with food stamps. Contestant #1, what’s your bid?”
The food “stamp” program is one of the most mis-used of welfare-type programs. I never cease to be amazed at how often I am in line behind someone using this resource, that have to check-out twice, one with the eligible items, the other for the “luxury” items that I can’t buy, even if I wanted too (beer, cigarettes, stacks of magazines, and a wide assortment of other items).
While I don’t begrudge anyone to have some comfort, I don’t understand why someone who lives on handouts should have access to things/foods that are out of my reasonable budget. There have been times in my life that I lived on Ramen noodles, peanut butter, and bologna - because that was what I could afford and still pay rent and electric bill. I might could have utilized a government handout program, but I could not bring myself to do that, when I was getting along ok without. It isn’t someone else’s responsibility.
I just came back from the gas station, there was a woman in from of me that paid for two bottles of soda with one of those cards from food stamps. I didn’t even know that was on the list of “food stuff” you could buy with it.
35 million huh? How is it that I owe a single one of them, through my tax dollars, a bite to eat?
The living God tells me to support the poor but not to filter my money through the government first.
If people won’t work they shouldn’t get to eat. There are people who cannot work and them I will help support but again, not with my taxes.
Next up, food riots in the streets when they run out of Soylent Green and Blue.
No facts to support this, but many people have recently exhausted the unemployment benefits offered by their respective states for 9 or 12 months, and are going off the unemployment income roles. Those people might now be qualifying for food stamps.
GB,
We have the fattest starving “poor” people on the face of the earth.
That’s ok Obama is working on soylent red!
The other day I was in Grocery Outlet, and at the checkout the people in front of me (a morbidly obese couple) had 24 cans of tunafish. The checker said, "Wow - you must really like tuna!" The guy replied, "Oh, that's for our cats. We can't use our Oregon Trail card for cat food!"
No wonder steak is expensive...
I believe they’re all on Debit Cards now..., no more paper...
