The article really illustrates why ones religious beliefs should not innfluenze who one votes for. That would eventually make us into a nation like Afghanistan.

All of these things he says he will do and with all of them I fully agree. It would seem that I could not have created a more perfect candidate, nor developed a more solid platform myself....Frankly, I cannot vote for Mr. Hankins, because I live about five miles too far west to do so. Ping for later.

What?
How would this author's decision to use the most important thing in his life, his God and his relationship to his God, to determine whom he would support ever be hurtful to you, me, or this country of ours?
Furthermore, show me the examples, during the last 200+ years, of any Democratic Country whose laws were based on the Judeo-Christian ethic, that ever ran even a little bit close to the abuses that are common in Islamic countries today.
There is no relativitism or relativity here at all.

Our Faith as a nation grants us Freedom(the freedom to believe or not believe, the freedom to worship or not worship)...Our rights and Freedoms come from God, not man and not government...
We need men elected to CONGRESS who will protect the Constitution...this is why we have thrived as a nation...

God has very little to do with government.
God has everything to do with ones spiritual, personal path.
As a lover of freedom, this post perfectly illustrates the
falsity of emotion in relation to seeking saintly perfection in a politician.
Something, BTW that the Obama supporters seem to have found.
I hope genuine Christians find their savior, but NEVER in a politician. That makes one vulnerable to rogues like Obama.
That can make one worse than the Obamaphiles. We deserve better.

Mr. Shankins sounds too good to be true, are you sure you didn't just dream all this last night?
Just think, if we had 219 men and/or women like him in the House today, along with a 60 seat majority in the Senate, OH!bama could be reigned in and the US could be saved from his Marxist agenda.
Now back to reality, and unfortunately to OH!bama and his freakazoid collaborators in Congress who are busily preparing to dismantle the world's best health care system and make it over into a copy of the disastrous UK and Canadian systems.

Agreed, But the perfection of God should not be sought of a politician, or demanded of a politician.
Thats actually sinful.

So you're saying that the men who designed the US government by means of composing a Constitution were wrong to open every session of the Constitutional Convention with a prayer to the God of the Judeo-Christian bible for His spiritual guidance in their efforts? Was Lincoln wrong to pour out his heart's desire to God each night for an end to the horrors of the Civil War? Was FDR wrong to offer a nationally broadcast prayer to God for victory and the safety of Allied troops on the eve of D-Day?
As I read American history, it wasn't until we started banning God, the bible, and Christianity from the public square that the US began the presently ongoing long slow slide into Marxist, atheistic, semi-slavery that OH!bama and his Godless cohorts are working 24/7 to accelerate to warp speed.

Don't put words into my mouth , it makes you look like a raving maniac.
My point was looking for a sainthood in a politician makes one as vulnerable to emotional saviour foolishness as an Obamaphile is.
And thats it.
Now go pound someone else and leave me alone.

I'm afraid you have taken my post and made a whole lot of suppositions from it.
As a Christian, my first and foremost duty and fidelity is to God, Period.
Furthermore, I am enjoined by God himself, no less, to honor him and obey him in all of my decisions.
Finally, Christians are not looking for saintly perfection in their politicians; they are looking for principled leaders who understand that they are actually servants for the public good. So, as a Christian, I need to make choices BETWEEN the available choices given me. It does not mean, in most cases, that I will not vote. That being said, there are some cases where I will not, if for nothing else, because I have been given to equally ugly choices (in terms of politicians) to choose from.

However, I cannot vote for him. ACORN et al. don't seem to have that problem with their favoured candidates.
Heck ... they don't even let death interfere with their voting.

I would tend to agree with you were the central government to limit itself to building lighthouses and protecting us from the British navy. Unfortunately, the government encroaches into every aspect, including spritual aspects, of our lives.
To: Candor7
That would eventually make us into a nation like Afghanistan. What an ignorant thing to say.
"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net.Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." --October 11, 1798 John Adams

Agreed, But the perfection of God should not be sought of a politician, Where on this forum expect any man to have the perfection of God, all that was described here is to expect a man to honer the principles of Judeo Christian ethics, that 98% of our founding fathers took for granted in honorable men.
