[Rangel's] STAFF AS 'FORGETFUL' AS THE [tax cheat] BOSS
NY Post ^ | 9/3/9

Charlie Rangel's "forgetfulness" is apparently contagious.

Two of his top aides are among about a dozen highly paid staffers on the powerful tax-writing Ways and Means Committee who have filed a flurry of amendments correcting their financial-disclosure statements since 2002.

Jim Capel, chief of staff for Rangel's personal office, failed to file any such statements for six years.

On the afternoon of July 14, Capel filed five years' worth of delinquent reports.

I don't think the IRS should be able to convict a single person in this country of tax evasion with the precedence and and obvious disconcern of the governments enforcement of its own employees and leaders.

I would use the Bernake/Rangel/Reid defense....

“I forgot, meant to, oversite, assistant, clerical error. Anyway, go ahead and lose the penalties and fines and I'll give you 33% of what I should have owed. Thank you, Judge.”

And you'd wind up serving five to ten. Selective enforcement is no defense.

Imagine if a Republican observed tax laws like a Democrat.

I’m afraid this is why we’re going to have to physically throw bums like him out of office. Because of the make-up of his constituency, he’ll never get thrown out at election time. God forbid that he ever serve time for his crimes, because that would be racist.

Their legal counsel didn’t even file correctly...

My question, did they actually pay taxes and just not disclose it on this particular form..or did they not include it in the IRS tax return.

Wesley Snipes has to do 3 years jail time for “forgetting”.

Wesley Snipes has to do 3 years jail time for “forgetting”.

Martha Stewart did jail time for fudging the truth about what she knew when she sold shares of a stock. Scooter Libby is in jail for misstating something under oath and contradicting himself during Plamegate.

Bill Clinton perjured himself under oath and to the American people. Sandy Burglar got caught stealing national secrets. Ted Kennedy (rest his soul) got a girl killed (manslaughter at a minimum).

The number of politicians that skate on tax evasion, solicitation, insider trading, extortion, collusion, etc. might eclipse a small phone book. But oddly, they mostly have the (D) in common.

Someone should right a book about how the blindfold has fallen off lady justice.
