THE global-warming bill moving through Congress would cost the nation nearly $10 trillion -- while doing virtually nothing to stop warming.
The Waxman-Markey "cap and trade" bill passed the House in late June; the Senate's due to take it up late this month. Its biggest problem (among many) is that it relies on the myth that we understand exactly what causes warming and what to do about it -- that the only issue is finding the political will.
Yet a major new study published in the American Geophysical Union's official publication, the Journal of Geophysical Research, indicates that most warming isn't man-made.
The party line is that manmade "greenhouse gas" emissions are clearly the greatest contributor to warming, with the major culprit being carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels that heat and cool our homes and power our vehicles.
But that assumption appears false. "We have shown that internal global-climate-system variability accounts for at least 80 percent of the observed global-climate variation over the past half-century," says study co-author Christopher de Freitas.
De Freitas, a climatologist at New Zealand's Auckland University and former editor of the prestigious international journal Climate Research, performed the study with his colleagues Robert Carter (an environmental scientist at two Australian universities) and John Mc- Lean (a climate consultant in Victoria, Australia). They found that the major cause of increased global surface temperatures since 1950 are El Niño and La Niña -- the abnormal Pacific surface-water heating and cooling phenomena.

If CO2 was a strong as a driver to climate change as the global warmers tell us, our climate would have spiraled out of control numerous times during our planet history. There is a zero percent chance global warmers are correct. I really don’t know why 90% of scientists haven’t denounced this crazy theory until now.

I know looks is no indicator of intelligence, however I make an exception in his case.
Waxman-Markey is going to make the right people a fortune while bankrupting everyone else.

Just as we have enough coal in this country to last us 500 yers and Obama wants to close coal powered electric plants and then have us drive electric cars. Under Obama and the democrats this country is getting dumb and dumber.
America survives off cheap energy and these people want to make energy as expensive as possible.They are destroying nus and we are letting them do it.
The U.S. global warming legislation is based on a hoax. Each one of our politicians knows it is a hoax. Republicans are as guilty as Democrats. My representative (Republican) passed out postcards at her annual picnic for us to send to our senators stating that climate change legislation should be FAIR. What is she talking about? Why isn’t she saying that climate change legislation should be NON-EXISTENT? This crap and trade is going to be funneled through Wall Street. All of the little political piggies have been promised their share of the thievery. Looks like there is no hope of escape from this hoax for the taxpayers.

After looking at the news headlines this morning, I’m thinking that our country is being led by a reincarnated Pol Pot. He’s trying to create “Green Jobs”, which was a key feature of the Cambodian government. He’s declared war on US industry. He’s moving us toward Communism. All we need are the killing fields (that’s probably buried in the healthcare bill somewhere.)
The question as to if there is global warming is irrelevant. That is not what this movement is about. It is about the absolute control of free enterprise. telling businesses how they can and cannot operate and what they can and cannot produce. It is fascism wrapped in a saving the Earth package.
The global warming concern started in the 1980s with valid indication that the climate was warming and looking for a causation factor. It reached critical mass in the late 90s when scientists could hook a steady revenue from grant money and politicians could use it to drive votes.
Neither of these notions can be 'modeled' in real life to where they produce accurate results. I am glad I did not invest in Madoff, I fear I will be forced to pay for the rest of my life into a far greater Ponzi Scheme.
