Hubby and I just got back from the Waco Tea Party. It was great and a great turnout! I was thinking it had to be over a thousand there and when we left, I saw two (2) protesters, lol!

We left a little early too, but didn’t see any rain. Clouds gathered and a nice breeze came up. Sheila said it was a gift from God. God bless TEXAS!!

Was flipping around and saw the 6PM news on KCEN 9 (formerly 6) - reporterette Christina Coleman, former news anchor in Anchorage Alaska, was on-scene, interviewed a couple of attendees. First up was a black gentleman apparently holding a small Gadsen flag, was asked why he was there at which time he reeled off a whole list of issues, everything from cap and trade to the czar garbage and he wants all the jerks in Washington out of there and gone. Next up was some character which I strongly suspect was light in the loafers, wearing a strange pink and black t-shirt with an illustration of a hobnail boot coming down on a stylized crowd of people, said he was with some outfit called "Friends of Peace" (the spooky t-shirt didn't look very peaceful) to do a counter-protest. Yeah, whatever dude. There's really nothing on the KCEN website - it's not like it used to be there - they used to be pretty aggressive at posting videos and keeping their website updated but not so anymore. Think maybe the new ownership messed that up.
Thanks for stopping by Mr. Robinson and have a safe trip!!

Hi! I saw that local news piece, too! (I’m in Cove.) I missed the very beginning, but saw the conservative black gentleman being interviewed, and he did a great job! I wondered if the reporter lady were surprised that he was not in the tank for Obama. The kid who represented the counter protesters was out of his league. It was as though he had no idea why he was there or what he was supposed to say. Figures.

Thank you so much guys! I live only about an hour away from Waco, but just couldn’t get there tonight. I saw good clips of the Tea Party on my local news and just now on Greta.
You make us so proud!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hiya back! - yeah, I got the same exact vibe. All lost and jumpy - think he said he was at Baylor, so no telling where he came from. He's still young yet and has a ring-side seat to the biggest civics lesson he'll probably ever get in his life, so maybe one day the light bulb will go on and he'll come in from the dark side. Ya never know.

Speaking of rain, we arrived in Dallas about an hour ago. We were welcomed by a sudden thunder and lightening storm. As Chris was unloading us from the freepmobile there was a huge lightening flash and thunderclap right over our heads that startled us and set off several car alarms around us. Then a torrent of rain poured down that drenched us before we could get to the hotel door.

True, he could finally grow up someday when reality hits. I went to Baylor...was a freshman when Clinton was first elected. I don’t remember more than a couple of Clinton/Gore signs around campus (in dorm room windows, etc.). The College Repubs were alive and well (saw a couple of current ones on Greta earlier). I wonder how the campus looked last fall...how many Obarfa signs were posted on campus? I have a sneaking suspicion that it was much worse than in ‘92. Even the conservative, Christian universities aren’t immune to this idiocy. Sad.
Have a great night!

Although an inconvenience, Texas really needs the rain! Glad you all made it to Dallas safely!

I think a more reasonable crowd estimate was 3,500 to 4,000. The place was packed.

I was told that pictures would be posted at the
Tea Party Express.org site, but that website seems to be overwhelmed with traffic, as I keep getting an error. There is a slideshow at
WOAI, per sockmonkey. Although, it looks like all those pics were taken either before or after the actual rally because there were many more people there than they show. The news is now reporting that there were ~1500 people.
To: sockmonkey
Sorry I missed you too, you must have been closer to the Alamo...I was closer to Alamo street on the left side of the stage next to the speakers, about 4 rows of people back. I had to leave as soon as they ended the rally to go back to work. There were alot of people on the Alamo Plaza side, so I went out the street side and then crossed back over at Houston street to get to my truck which was in the parking lot behind the Alamo. I passed right behind a woman getting interviewed on camera by WOAI, but I didn't see the interview on TV. I then passed by the buses and a man with the Tea Party Express took a picture of a group of us with our signs. Hopefully that picture will be on their website once it is functional again, it seems to be overloaded with traffic at the moment as I keep getting an error.
