My children went to Catholic schools and mostly all of my grandchildren are going to Catholic schools. My one granddaughter has a special teacher who has watched over her and she is in public education. She helped her get into college and she is a gem.She still helps her now to this day. This one is far away in Maine and needs special help.

The idea that a preK-4th grade kid would “opt out” is ridiculous, unless they are offered playground time instead.
I can remember during the Ford/Carter election I was in K. My teacher made us all vote with beans in little margin containers for Ford or Carter. When Ford won, she made us revote because it was a mistake. This was before the actual election day. It stuck out to me that it was wierd to say the results were wrong after her explanation of voting.
I wouldn’t trust a teacher with my kid’s morals, logic skills, political views, etc. Ever. Heck, when the current assistant principal can’t pronounce “ask” properly, why even trust them with English.
I sent a note to my elementary school asking if they were showing the speech and pointing out the things in the education dept letter that bothered me. I asked for the time it will begin so that I could pick my son up.

I really don’t have a problem with this.

Lucky Sasha and Malia! They don't have to sit through their father's propaganda at school.

I won’t be surprised if the names of the teachers, students or their families who opt out are entered into some kind of WH database. I wonder if school administrators were asked to “snitch”.

If my kids were still school age, I'd arrange for private school or home school. They would not be attending school on 9-8. I know a LOT of homeschooling parents who home birth that are opting out of SS numbers for their kids.

I have talked to three teachers who are friends and acquaintances of mine. I know they had a staff meeting, today...and before that, they had not even HEARD of this when I asked them.
Will be interesting what I find out tomorrow. I will be calling the ‘Super’ as well to find out if our area will be participating.
From what I gathered.....the principal at our kids’ school is not...shall we say...a ‘big lover’ of ‘Dear Leader’.....and even under orders from admin....would ignore it.

I asked the headmaster of my kids school and they weren’t aware of the speech. So they asked the administrators and it came back “it is only for public schools”.
Ahhhh, the joy of writing a check for your kids education. I also get the joy of paying taxes for the hunk of doo public system but at least I know my kids are not part of this whole campaign.
I would have sent them to school regardless. My kids don’t have to have me around to know what to do and what to believe.

Right blasts Obama speech to students "Right"? Is the author showing they're side? I AM SURE IT IS NOT all THE right. Why in the hell can't they report, opponents? Or concerned parents? I realize then they would be doing their jobs but I am sick to death of the media against the world via their man 0bama.

I can remember being used like this by people supporting a property-tax increase back in the 5th Grade. We had a rally and made signs that we carried and sang a little song about ‘No Double Sessions’. Got my picture in the little town paper, if I remember correctly.
I just believed what ‘grown-ups’ said at the time.
I have since been cured of that, thank God.
