LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Associated Press has learned that the federal government did not carry through on efforts to burn away decades of brush on nearly 3,000 parched acres in the forest where the raging wildfire on the edge of Los Angeles broke out.

Months before the huge wildfire raging on the edge of Los Angeles broke out, federal authorities obtained permits to burn away decades of highly flammable brush on nearly 3,000 acres of the forest.

I’ve been wondering about this situation myself. I mean, okay, they know there will be fires out there whether Smokey is on the job or not ... most of them are caused by lightning anyway.

So why can’t some preventative solutions be figured out and taken to keep them from spreading. Surely there are people smart enough to figure it out.

I know wacko environmentalists have fought in court to block some proposed measures for thinning vegetation and there have been some stupid restrictions placed on some homeowners who want to cut around their property, but what the hey is going on?

Whose fault is it that this plan wasn’t carried out?

Was Bush still President? That would explain it, but I believe the president’s name was Obama at the time.

AQMD put the kibosh on the controlled burns they requested because of ‘particulates.’ As opposed to the massive amounts of particulates that are now being allowed.

David Dreier, our Congressman here in Pasadena area, investigated this, talked to the USFS, etc. He said, in addition, Jerry Brown, our STUPID Attorney General in Sacto (yes, Governor Moonbeam), has SUED the USFS to stop controlled burns AND cutting, trimming dead growth. Because those are not ‘natural.’ It is still in the courts and has put damper on any aggressive actions the USFS wants VERY MUCH to do. They do not want to be sued.

“The government at its finest -— managing a small job in to a full on disaster”

I’m pretty sure they’re quite capable of achieving the identical results when attempting to manage large jobs, such as taking on the entire $2.5 trillion dollar health care system.

Hopefully we will never experience a live test of Obamacare, in part because public skepticism about government’s abilities grow every time they read a story like this.

Perfect opportunity for Conservation Camps for young men and women....Fire access roads...

The Gov knows WHAT to do, they're just too PC to do it!!

Well, kiss it...And look at the stupidity of too many years of PC!!

Such a wonderful renewable source...and our government encourages it to burn up!!!
