GOP senators seek go-slow approach on health care [McKennedy, NRSC/RINO freak show] [barf]

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — An odd couple of Republican senators have hit the road, arguing for a go-slow approach to President Barack Obama's push to revamp health care.

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and 2008 presidential nominee John McCain are headlining the GOP's answer to the raucous town hall meetings of August in which congressional Democrats had to shout over angry constituents about health care, growing deficits and the increasing role of the federal government.

. . . . .

Political recovery is an issue for McCain, too.

. . . . .

Health care also offers McCain a chance to revise his image with millions of Americans and fill the elder statesman role embodied by his friend and former colleague, the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy.

. . . . .

In Charlotte on Tuesday, McCain cited his credentials as a deficit hawk and faulted Obama for not offering his own health care plan — echoing a complaint from former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole, R-Kan.

"The president has not come forward with a proposal," McCain said, sounding like he was still on the campaign trail. "He's supposed to lead. Where is his proposal?"

Does this mean that McQueeg will finally admit to being a closet Democrat?

I wish McCain would just get out of the way....when will he and the rest of the Rinos get the message that we do not want ANY government run health care, regardless of who write it?

echoing a complaint from former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole, R-Kan.

Echoing his incredible national electoral appeal, too. The question is: Who will be the next Bob Dole the Republicans run against a cool, young Democrat?

No! No! No! Government already has meddled in health care via Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA system. Get rid of the waste, fraud and abuse in those models first before it's foisted on the entire public.

FWIW, no one hardly ever mentions this, but the "poor" have an alternative to clogging up emergency rooms for less than emergent care--namely, the free clinics provided at public health departments.

Well...at least the have those free, state run clinics here in Michigan. In fact, the City of Detroit maintains its own public health department, entirely separate from Wayne County's public health department.

The difference is that the Democrats base loved Ted Kennedy because they shared the same political views. The Republican base detests McCain because he is far more liberal than the base. Good luck finding love from Conservatives, Senator McCain. It just ain't gonna happen...

This only re-emphasizes the difference between Obama and McCain in 2008; it was only a matter of a few years. One wanted socialism now, the other one wanted it a little more gradually. You can figure out who each was.
