President Obama, after taking care of some business yesterday, dives back into vacation mode today as he heads to Camp David. Hell remain there through Sunday. When he returns, his September schedule is quite busy. Next wee includes his first 9/11 anniversary; later this month hell address the AFL-CIO, attend the UN General Assembly meeting, and host the G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh. Reports indicate today that somewhere at the front end, he may make a major speech to reframe the health care debate as well.
Congress returns from August recess next week, and two vacancies remain -- NY-23 (Rep. John McHugh, R, has not yet been confirmed by the Senate as secretary of the Army) and CA-10 (former Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D, was appointed to a position in the State Department), though Tauscher's replacement may have been chosen last night.
In the special election to fill the vacant seat in California's 10th Congressional District, no candidate received 50% in the multi-party primary, so a runoff will be held Nov. 3 for the leading vote getters from each party. Lt. Gov. John Garamendi (D), who received 26%, will face attorney David Harmer (R), who won 21%, as well as three minor party candidates with no primary opposition. Garamendi is expected to win easily, as the district leans heavily Democratic -- Tauscher won with at least two-thirds of the vote in the last four elections, and Obama won 65% here in 2008.

Same here and he can take Congress with him. A 52 week paid vacation to Sri Lanka would be much better on our wallets than having these clowns in DC.
:)
Never fear. It’s not like we’ve got a president with a measurable IQ anyway.
We do - however - have the Teleprompter on full duty.
Gettin all wee-weed up!
So, the last eight didn't count for him?
Yes! LOL
Does Zero time his vacation to coincide with Ramadan so he can fast and pray with less scruntity?

It seems that presidents don’t do much anyway. They go on trips, schmooz with foreign leaders (afterwards the 2 make goo-goo eyes at each other for the press), and spend our money flying around to campaign for other pols.
If I had known the job was so easy, I might have made a run for it myself. ;-)
Isn’t there a similiar picture of Mussolini?

So with a fortnight vacation and he’d be wee-wee’d off?
I was wondering about that myself. Anyone know when Ramadan ends?
I like your Mom. Smart woman. :)
Ramadan in 2009 will start on Friday, the 21st of August and will continue for 30 days until Saturday, the 19th of September.
Based on sightability in North America, in 2009 Ramadan will start in North America a day later - on Saturday, the 22nd of August.
Note that in the Muslim calander, a holiday begins on the sunset of the previous day, so observing Muslims will celebrate Ramadan on the sunset of Thursday, the 20th of August.
OH NO! I take it back. NOT a smart woman when it comes to politics! :)
My parents and grandparents all vote GOP. I’m fortunate there. :)
