Health care isn't the only destructive White House priority running into trouble in the Senate. Yesterday, Barbara Boxer (Marin County) and John Kerry (Nantucket) announced that Democrats won't release their cap-and-trade bill next week as scheduled after all, but will instead postpone it for up to a month. It's far too early to say that carbon tax and cap is dead, but mark this delay down as one more sign that it remains well short of 60 votes....
Ms. Boxer and Mr. Kerry insist that all systems are still go, though it didn't sound that way when...
Cap and tax will most hurt the rural and Midwest states that most rely on coal-fired power and heavy manufacturing. Middle-American Senators aren't about to rush through a huge new tax on carbon energye.g., their constituentsthat will largely flow to the wealthier coasts, even if it is done in the name of saving the planet while the here-and-now economy is still sputtering.
The House barely passed the Waxman-Markey climate bill in June, and only after weeks of arm-twisting and outright legislative bribery and at significant political cost to Blue Dog Democrats. The same tactics won't be as effective in the upper chamber...

Seroiusl WHERE THE &(%^%^ does the “media” get this “upper chamber” shit from?
....with Town Hall meetings already teetering on the verge of riots, just wait ‘til the Dems add 40% to people’s electric bills via Cap n Tax.
John Kerry (Nantucket)! LOL
John Kerry (Hanoi)
o’bozo will rule by executive orders to enact his agenda.
It is an historical reference to the British parliamentary system, where the “lower chamber” is elected, and the “upper chamber” is made up of the “upper” classes of their society, dukes, earls, bishops, etc. who are not elected. Until the early part of the 20th century, members of our upper chamber, the Senate, were not elected, they were appointed by the state legislatures. In our country, the Senate has traditionally been referred to as the upper chamber.
John Kerry (fake, fraud, liar, traitor)
Carbon Cap Tax & Scam Ping ~ (POGW)
Keep the pressure on Mtn West dems and Coal state Dems.
Yes, a little hope, but we have to be vigilant. This one actually did make it through the House, so it’s still something to watch.
The Senate has always been referred to as the “upper chamber” while the House has always been referred to as the “lower chamber”. In any bicameral legislatures there will be an “upper chamber” and a “lower chamber”. That’s just political jargon.
Damn straight they don’t have the votes. I went ballisticv on my Congressman (sestak) but to no avail, he’s all in with this. And he’s is going to fail just as much as this legislation.
Wait until people relaize that this legislation imposes federal building codes (ala California)over local ones; no one will be able to sell a home or get a home equity loan unless they make it “green” enough.
