Lawyer: Driver in NY wrong-way crash to be exhumed
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. A lawyer says the body of a woman who killed herself and seven other people by driving a minivan the wrong way on a New York parkway and crashing into an SUV will be exhumed for testing in an attempt to counter findings that she was drunk.

My guess is she’s still dead.
And drunk.
Dead drunk?
C'mon...that was too easy. ;-)
What about the *evil* Mary Jane?
She was HIGHly Dead Drunk?
I caught the show. Some serious BS lawyering going on. Every theory as to how her BAC ended up twice the legal limit was put forth as plausible, with the exception of the chance that she just went on a bender.
They had a PI on that the husband hired. His findings? Nobdody saw her drinking, so she couldn’t have been drunk. Regular forensics genius, that one.
Apparently there is no way to measure THC blood content. (The PI was a narcotics officer for 15 years, Larry, and he’s never heard of such a thing). Which is going to come as a big suprise to pathologists all over the world.
I feel I must come to the defense of scoobysnak71.
It’s early in the day. Many of us have not yet had that third cup of coffee. We must harvest the low-hanging fruit first.
;^)

True true. One must take pity on me. Tis too early in the morn.
Hair or urine test would suffice.
I do know that during a massive blunt trauma injury, the body produces enough natural alchohol to taint the results. This is a problem commonly faced in aircraft crash victims.
That’s one of the theories. But it doesn’t explain the cell phone call from one of the kids saying the driver was acting strange before the crash. That’s where the stroke comes in.
Ya, could be. Those can bring on a multitude of weird behaviours. Such a shame.
Let ‘em test and retest until they’re satisfied. Not that it would bring any of the dead back, but I’d hate to see an innocent person’s reputation tarnished by sloppy forensics.
Either she was truly drunk and/or stoned or she wasn’t.
Maybe something can be learned from this either way.
The husband is desparate to protect their joint property from the victims' survivors. Fat chance.
Good.
If, by some chance, she’s still moving - put a bullet in her.
She murdered seven people.
The husband’s just trying to cover his ass for the civil suits, and to scrounge up a bit of sympathy and insulation from culpability himself.
The whole thing was strange (aside from being hideously tragic) She apparently was known for not drinking, simply because she didn’t like the taste of alcohol, and could detect it in things like fruity drinks, etc. if she was mistakenly given a drink with alcohol at a party, for example. She regularly smoked dope because she had trouble sleeping at night and it supposedly helped her sleep.
Personally, I was wondering if it was a suicide. Regular pot smokers can become very depressed, and it’s possible that she simply was depressed, decided to get stoned, get drunk, and then kill herself. Suicides frequently like to take their children with them. In addition, her drug and alcohol use could have encouraged a stroke, so they may even find that a stroke was involved.
She did apparently call her brother and say she was confused and had double vision. Maybe this was a call for help, either because there was genuinely something physically wrong with her or because she was losing her resolve. I haven’t read what he said to her, but it evidently didn’t prevent her from getting back on the road.
In any case, I’m not sure what exhuming her is going to prove.
I read that she was also a diabetic. That could also have been a factor.
