I don’t think they are on welfare. Those kids are not bad kids. They aren’t gangbangers and drug dealers. I fail to see any problem with this.

Since they attract such scorn I think I love ‘em. I read at the CNN site that they live debt-free in a home they built themselves. Why their family size, given no govt subsidies, is important to anyone but them is beyond me.

The ones making most noise against them seem to be those who just adore all the Hollywood starlets having their babies out of wedlock, or who are supportive of the unwed teenage mother in the ‘hood about to have her fourth kid before hitting age 20.

They believe what God said, that children are a gift from God. Their children are beautiful, happy, talented and extremely well mannered. A lovely family. The children are home schooled.

They and another family, as a surprise, paid for and built a 4,000 sq ft addition to the home of their friends, a family with 12 children. They all did all the building. The young girls in the families laid all the tile. Their friends’ home was 1,000sq ft. They are a pleasure to watch. They love God and live by his word. They live in Arkansas and I believe they have been friends with Huckabee for a long time.

Doctors gave me the same dire predictions about my son (at 40).

We accepted God's will and resisted the calls to abort.

Guess what? My son is PERFECT. Handsome, smart, healthy, and whole.

But more important, we already loved him, even when we believed that we would have to sell everything just to take care of him.

If God gave me another child, I would happily take it, handicapped or not.

Things are just things. People are what matter.

You know there was a time before birth control. People stop having children when they are too old. It’s called menopause.

Yes, it’s none of our business, they can do anything they want..but I also have the right to say I think it’s insane and not good for the children...and can I say OUCH for the Mrs! Pregnant 1/2 of her life!

I think its too many, personally, and yet the family seems, from what we get on television, to be well adjusted, and darn it, they are just GOOD PEOPLE. God Bless them.

Yes, I think they should stop, as the mother is getting up there in age, but its up to them, as long as they are the ones paying for their kids (which they are).

Yes, they are an amazing family. I saw some interviews with the Duggars and I was IMPRESSED! The orchestra the children formed was beautiful, the house is FABULOUS, the mother is an amazing organizer. Wow, to be so lucky!

God bless them if they keep their heads above water via legitimate business.

The slight reservation I have is that of millionaires (and they sound close to being the same) advising the hoi polloi how to manage their finances. They may be right most of the time, but sometimes they come up with some doozies just because they are so distant from the lives of those they would advise.

It isn't about their wants, needs or values. It's that they are getting into an area where they are at high risk for having very sick or mentally impaired children.
If they have 19 healthy ones, count your blessings but be responsible and don't continue to have children when you are older and it is dangerous.

Just common sense.
Nothing wrong with using the brains God gave you.
I'm not talking medical secrets here, most women know about risks of having children late in life.

“Are they keeping up the household without being on the dole?”

Try reading something besides the Hollywood gossip story.

Like their web site. http://www.duggarfamily.com/

Jim duggar I believe was a Republican congressman. The Duggars favorite family web sites are:

Essential Faith-Building Tools

Living Within Your Finances

Resources for Home Education

You still think they are on the public dole?

joining the family profession of making humans.

I suppose it would be more noble in the eyes of this author if they were out slutting around, adding to the coffers of local abortionists, eh?

The Culture of Death of the Left will scorn every single child the Duggars give life. Those of us who want Life, Liberty and Freedom will be thankful that the Duggars can do it.

If she keeps having kids at 42 plus years of age, she is at real risk for a handicapped child. Stop while ahead IMO

My mother was 44 when she had me. I didn't spend one single day in special ed, either.
I know the claim you're talking about but I've known several folk who are "menopausal babies" and they seem fine to me. If the Duggars want 21 kids, let 'em have at it.

Their children are some of the most well adjusted, responsible, lovely children I have ever seen. How is it not good for them?

And at that time they used to house all the retarded people with no care in mental wards. Times changed and knowledge is good, especially if used.

I agree. I finally became pregnant when I was 35. That's the age when the risk of many handicaps goes up exponentially. The doc put me through many tests, but irregardless the results, I would have kept my child and love him as I do today. Thankfully, he's a healthy child now almost 13. All children are a blessing. It's not my business, but if they are able, God bless them.

It just blows my mind that anyone here is so presumptuous as to have an opinion of any kind about how many children a family should have.

A family of strangers you've never met, who are not asking for help or on government assistance, and you think you know better than they do how many kids they should have. They deal with it day in and day out; they pay the bills and take care of the kids; they know how the kids are doing and what their personalities are like, but you guys think you know better than they do whether another child is a good idea.

Unbelievable.
