Well...if it doesn't fit, make it disappear! But as we now know, it's not Stanley Ann Dunham as the mother that's in doubt, it's Obama Sr as the father. I wonder how long it will take them to figure that out?
She has been representing herself as married, using the Obama name even at the U. of Washington. She needed to "tie that off" so she could marry Lolo Soetero. Plus child custody issues, maybe.
She was enrolled at U. Washington in the Autumn of '61. Her transcript says from Aug. 19th, although *regular* classes did not start until late September. Barrack Senior, did leave Hawaii for Harvard until the end of the Spring Semester in '62. She left him, he did not leave her. Assumign there was a real relationship to "leave" in the first place.
You know, I don’t know anything about getting divorced but is there some standard of proof of a condition before granting a resolution, in a court of law?
Her SSN is 535-40-8522 from Ancestry.com
A search at intelius.com using that SS# returns 2 addresses in Honolulu, HI and one address for NY,New York.
Stanley Ann's age for this record is shown to be age 66.
Doing a Whitepages.com search yields the following results:
Stanley A. DunhamIt has been reported that Stanley Ann Dunham was at Ford Foundation during Barack’s Columbia years."

Her SSN is still alive, under her name. There are also indications that the exact same SSN belongs to a Scott Dunham.
Part of the Gender Equality Program, hmmmm?
Could Barak's mother be a transsexual?
Have I somehow missed a previous discussion on this? (Had to be out of town a lot this summer.) How long have you known this? Has someone paid a visit to 320 E. 43rd St.?
Surely this can’t be true.
Most likely Obama Sr. disrespected her in some way, and she wanted to get away from him. Maybe she found out he was a polygamist. There's any number of plausible reasons. She went to the one place outside Hawaii where she had a support network: Seattle.
While travelling with a newborn isn't easy, it's not impossible. It certainly would have been easier to travel with a newborn from Honolulu to Seattle in 1961 than it would be to travel while 8 or 9 months pregnant from Honolulu to Kenya. We're talking about a 6 hour flight (or 10 hours & two flights if she had to connect in LA or SF) vs. a greuling 2-3 day journey that would have involved various forms of primitive transportation.
I don't see how any of this supports the birther argument.

Courts typically require a certificate of marriage be submitted with divorce papers.

It could be true, and stop calling me Shirley.
That is why I doubt the transcript is authentic. Ever since I've been at the UW, correspondence classes have started at the same time as all other classes. I don't know for a fact that that was the case in 1961, but I see no evidence to indicate it was any different. I talked to a couple old timers who were around in 1961, and they don't remember it being different, though they couldn't say for sure.
The available evidence suggests she arrived in Seattle in the last week of August, 2-3 weeks after Bambi's birth. That's not impluasible.
If she were planning on taking classes during the fall quarter, which always started the last week of September, it would make sense for her to arrive before classes began in order find a place to live and get settled.
I really don't see why you birthers see the move to Seattle to be so significant.
That would be a pretty quick boat trip. It's a month or so, each way from Honolulu to Mombasa. I estimated that yesterday, I think, but then at lunch today, I was rereading "We Were Soldiers Once..", and Hal Moore relates that it took his unit, in several WW-II era transports, "the better part of a month" to go from Charleston S. Carolina to Vietnam. That's about 20% greater than the Honolulu-Mombasa distance but that still means it's at least 3 weeks each way by boat. Today there are 4 weeks between the end of the Fall Semester and the beginning of the Spring Semester. (Dec. 19-Jan. 11 for this year). But, in 1961 most schools on the semester system didn't end until a couple of weeks after New Years, maybe 3 weeks. and then started up again very quickly, with maybe a week or two off. My first couple of years at college, '68-'70 at least, we did it that way too, then like Hawaii, we changed to starting earlier, late August (this year it is the 24th) finishing the fall semester before Christmas (Dec. 18), and then returning in mid January (Jan 11) and finishing the spring semester in mid May. (May 7).
I don't know either, but others have said no proof of marriage is required to get a divorce.
In those days common law marriages were more usual, there'd be no paperwork, but a divorce was still required to end one. Still is in Texas, where you have to be real careful cohabitating, or you'll find yourself married without intending to be.
But which they won't show anyone.
There are eyewitness accounts that say she tried to fly back to the U.S. late in the pregnancy but was denied boarding
Who are these eyewitnesses?
Doubtful. There are photographs of Stanley Ann looking very female and overweight, at the obama wedding for example. I would imagine ID theft is a possibility?
Like most states, Hawaii never recognized common law marraiges.
Being in the hospital "for another condition" could provide some cover.
Not everyone who has a sex change operation feels the need to rub their new plumbing in all the world's faces.
Further, as we posted on the original Long Thread, the BOAC connection she would have been on through Glaskow and Vancouver BC would have put her on Mercer Island on August 6th. So it isn't surprising that is where you find her.
How long did she stay? What did she do next? My own hypothesis is that she proceeded within a day or so to Honolulu because she, and/or her mother, intended to make a birth filing in Hawaii. And we find a filing on August 8. We don't yet know what was filed but we may well yet find out.
I don't see much new or news in Corsi's story on that point.
His point about the end of summer quarter on August 18 is a response to my earlier analysis--he is correct; I am wrong. I have used August 11 as the end of summer quarter because I took my last undergraduate final on the 10th because the professor was moving to another college. The rest of my classes were grad school classes for which the end grade was a paper. I took my other final quarter exams at the end of the first half of summer quarter.
The fact, if it is a fact, that she was registered for summer classes on Saturday, August 19, doesn't demonstrate that she was in Seattle to do so and I think she was not--my hypothesis is that she continued on to Hawaii on the 7th.
"The University of Washington's 1961 summer schedule coincides with Dunham's college grade transcript, which indicates she began taking extension courses at the university Aug. 19, 1961."
Really Joe? Where does it say that?
It doesn't.
He is relying on the two notes in paren's below the courses. The second date is clearly in exam week for the quarter in which the class was credited. In the case of Winter Quarter, the first date, 12/27 is also clearly before classes started on January 2. As the first date for Fall quarter, 9/25 is long after the first date for the fall quarter class shown as 8/19.
8/19 was a Saturday. The campus was shut down for vacation. She might well have mailed in a registration for Fall Quarter that date but she was not in class. Nothing in the rest of the article supports that view either.
I think it would be very rare for anyone over middle age to have gender issues. ID theft on the other hand, is common.
However, if you are thinking that she is still alive, masquerading as a man - there would have been no need for surgery. Hormone treatment would do it...
But for what purpose?
There have probably been a dozen threads on FR where people did have a sex change late in life. When it's a teacher or politician, it makes the news.
Beats me as to why, it seems that by the time you're out of the dating and party scene and your libido has cooled down a bit it wouldn't be so urgent to run the risks, pain and expenses.
ID theft on the other hand, is common.
Yeah. Tax fraud and money laundering come to mind as well.
Here’s the theory, which is supported by logistics of Stanley Ann or Sr. (documentation or witness reports): The trip from Honolulu to Kenya would have been in late 1960 or very early 1961, early pregnancy, during Stanley Ann’s missing months. The marriage takes place in Kenya and she stays with Sr.’s family till after the birth while he returns to Hawaii to school. The Seattle appearance is on her return trip with the baby, late August 1961. She subsequently enrolls in extension courses at U of W that fall and on-campus classes the following spring (U of W transcripts, and her name and address listed in city directories).
How does “any of this support the birther argument”? I don’t know that it does, and that’s not what most of us are interested in. There are big questions about the man in the oval office, and we just want answers, wherever they lead us.
If you really do have “curiousity,” you should take time to go back and read the long threads.
