You know, I don’t know anything about getting divorced but is there some standard of proof of a condition before granting a resolution, in a court of law?

I don't know either, but others have said no proof of marriage is required to get a divorce.

In those days common law marriages were more usual, there'd be no paperwork, but a divorce was still required to end one. Still is in Texas, where you have to be real careful cohabitating, or you'll find yourself married without intending to be.

Like most states, Hawaii never recognized common law marraiges.
