Nervous Barack Obama eyes Afghan surge
The Australian ^ | 9/2/2009 | Brad Norington

President Barack Obama is fast approaching a crunch point on whether to significantly boost troop numbers, after his top military commander in Afghanistan handed a review of the war to the Pentagon.

Mr Obama's spokesman, Robert Gibbs, yesterday responded to questions about the worsening situation in the US-led fight against the Taliban by blaming George W. Bush for past neglect while the focus remained on Iraq.

So I wonder if the public will give him a pass if he is blaming Bush for everything during his 2012 re-election bid? (I know the press will...but will the public?)

You get to blame once. The question then is what are you going to do about it. By 2010 if they haven’t done anything about it they won’t be able to blame Bush for their inactivity. If the do something and it doesn’t work, well you break it you bought it.

We’re nine months into the Obama administration. If this blaming of the previous presidency for current events continues for another week and a half, it will be a tacit admission that 9/11/01 was Clinton’s fault.

Where’s the anti-war protesters? He’s expanding the war, where are they? Oh, now it’s a noble war. Stupid me.

Nervous? I would think so! This is what you get when there is a lack of trust up & down the chain of command.

You have got to be fricking kidding me.

0bama was asked by high ranking military brass for an up surge. 0bama does as needed (he has no other choice or people die- he looks bad) and then puts out through Gibbs that is it Bushes fault?

This mornings news tells different...

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2329328/posts

He is only blaming Bush to appease HIS dumbassed liberal people.

Dunno, but in Iraq Bush got rid of a dictator, stabilized the country, and set it on a path towards becoming a functioning independent democratic state. As our troops complete their mission and return home, the situation seems to be reverting to type.
Afghanistan is a different story. It's always been a killing field for any foreign army, regardless of their strategic intent, no matter their ultimate goal. Bush knew this.
I have a small map of the Middle East, laminated for reference. Guess what. Iraq is ‘the belly of the beast.’ Having established a strategic platform there, Bush would have been in a position to quickly insert forces almost anywhere in the area. Just my lowly observation.

If it’s President Bush’s fault, why is it that everything ‘Bam has done since he took office has made it worse?

“We’re not going to see the entire thing turn around in a few months after years of neglect,” Mr Gibbs said.

God, is there anyone else finding this guy as loathsome as I do? He’s absolutely the worst, most partisan press secretary. Everything is sarcastic. If he doesn’t wish to answer the question he:

1. blames it on Bush or cheney
2. says he didn’t see the article or poll in question
3. chuckles and says next question

This guy is bad news. Reminds me of someone unpopular all his school days, a sissy and Momma’s boy who would tattle tale on you.

the worst.

He inherited his propensity to make things worse from Bush, don’t you know? He also inherited his bad approval numbers from Bush. He also inherited his arrogance from Bush.

Can you imagine this jerk getting out of a fighter plane on an aircraft carrier witha flight suit on? It would be the equal of Kerry in the bunny suit.

marko, this is definitely Bush's Fault, because as is plain as day, Bush should have sent all those people in Iraq to Afghanistan first.

Now, our Anointed Leader for Life must right yet another Bush Wrong by doing the Surge Thing in Afghanistan. I enjoy reading your posts, but your logic is really quite faulty.

Analytically speaking, this is sort of the same thing as the present Global Cooling trend actually being caused by Global Warming, which so many people on this site just don't get.

BTW, blaming Bush for everything during his 2012 re-election bid is based on truth ... to believe otherwise is, of course, blatant racism.

I certainly hope they hurry up and come out with that Fourth Edition of the Newspeak Dictionary soon. All of this thinking is really making my head hurt. ;-/

The very fact that your head hurts is Bush's Fault ... and now, because of racism, you will not have government health care to get your hurting head fixed for free, as it would be in Cuba.

IMHO, your pain is caused by Global Warming. After all, if it can kill polar bears, who knows what insidious effects it might have on humans? Check your perimeter for Carbon Footprints.
