Rosa Brooks: the Pentagon's far left adviser
telegraph ^ | Nile Gardiner

In what has to be one of the most extreme appointments yet by the Obama Administration, ex-Los Angeles Times columnist and Georgetown law professor Rosa Brooks has just been made an adviser to Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Michelle Fluornoy - a move Brooks describes as “my personal government bailout.”

Bailout is certainly the right word for someone who appears to have no relevant national security qualifications for the position. She does though have experience working as Special Counsel for George Soros’s Open Society Institute in New York, and as a former adviser to Harold Koh, the hugely controversial nominee for Legal Adviser to the State Department.

-snip-

Brooks, a fierce opponent of the Iraq War, mocked the White House’s “desperate flailing” and arguably belittled U.S. sacrifices in Iraq in a sarcastic 2006 piece she wrote at the height of attacks on Allied forces by al-Qaeda backed insurgents. She condescendingly noted in her article that “it’s a good thing our troops have The Google over there - like Bush, they can use Google maps to recall how their hometowns look and wonder if they’re going to make it back before this administration sends them on any more misconceived missions.” She further argued that “with so many thousands dead, and so many thousands more embittered, ‘winning’ isn’t really on the table anymore. The only question now is whether we can mitigate the damage.”

"Let’s hope this is isn’t the kind of advice the new administration takes on for the war in Afghanistan. In fact it is hard to think of a more inappropriate political appointment at a time when America needs a hard-headed approach to winning a global war instead of defeatist, far-left rhetoric."

Know your new administration, even if you have to go overseas to get the truth...

She teaches at Georgetown Law. She is the daughter of the Socialist nutcake Barbara Ehrenreich. She has also been a consultant for Human Rights Watch, a board member of Amnesty International USA, and a member of the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law. She is active in political causes. She hates the United States and what it stands for. She wrote columns full of girlish enthusiasm about Obama last year, and in 2004 was a foreign policy advisor to the Kerry-Edwards campaign. AND SHE IS PRIVY TO ALL OF THIS COUNTRY'S DEFENSE AND NATIONAL SECURITY SECRETS, and is going to be advising on our defense policy. And remember, her mentor, Harold Koh, advocates a "transnational legal process" and criticizes the U.S. legal system for its failure to "obey global norms." He has also state in public that Islamic law could apply in U.S. courts.

A coup d'état (pronounced /ˌkuːdeɪˈtɑː/, us dict: kōō′·dā·tâ′), or coup for short, is the sudden unconstitutional deposition of a legitimate government, usually by a small group of the existing state establishment — typically (but not always) the military — to replace the deposed government with another, either civil or military. A coup d’état succeeds when the usurpers establish their legitimacy if the attacked government fail to thwart them, by allowing their (strategic, tactical, political) consolidation and then receiving the deposed government’s surrender; or the acquiescence of the populace and the non-participant military forces.

Typically, a coup d’état uses the extant government’s power to assume political control of the country. In Coup d'État: A Practical Handbook, military historian Edward Luttwak says: "A coup consists of the infiltration of a small, but critical, segment of the state apparatus, which is then used to displace the government from its control of the remainder”, thus, armed force (either military or paramilitary) is not a defining feature of a coup d’État.

There appears to be absolutely no vetting process in Washington since Nov 4 of 2008.

The whackier the better for NObama.

Dictionary.com:

3. to appraise, verify, or check for accuracy, authenticity, validity, etc.: An expert vetted the manuscript before publication.

I am pretty sure those who put the sock-puppet, Obama, in are doing all the checks for authenticity they need.

It appears every one of Obama’s fellows are authentic.

She needs a quick trip to Iraq offering open air view from the back of the plane along with the opportunity to parachute out...

Am tired of these weasels who have no love of our country being involved in “defense” of our country...let her go be an undersecretary somewhere else. Maybe she’ll live and come back and appreciate this country when she’s gone to he)) and back...

Rosa Brooks once wrote that al Qaeda was “little more than an obscure group of extremist thugs, well financed and intermittently lethal but relatively limited in their global and regional political pull. On 9/11, they got lucky. . . . Thanks to U.S. policies, al Qaeda has become the vast global threat the administration imagined it to be in 2001.” She’s now headed to Obama’s Defense Department.

So true. The British and other media gave us different perspectives than our MSM.

She wrote columns full of girlish enthusiasm about Obama last year,

A Monica Lewinsky like crush? He's every so dreamy...

and in 2004 was a foreign policy advisor to the Kerry-Edwards campaign.

What a brain trust that turned out to be.

is going to be advising on our defense policy. And remember, her mentor, Harold Koh, advocates a "transnational legal process" and criticizes the U.S. legal system for its failure to "obey global norms."

Well, this will be interesting. A real Jimmah Cartuh, bend over and ask for more approach to appeasing the global 'norms'.
