When Health Care Becomes The State

In the United States there are many participants in the public square; business, entertainment, education, family, religion, federal government, state governments, charities, health care, etc. These participants are constantly bumping up against each other, sometimes cooperating, perpetually struggling to maintain (or expand) their share of space in the public square. This social arrangement is part of the checks and balances that helps to prevent any one player from monopolizing power. In the former Soviet Union everything was the state and nothing was outside the state. The state occupied all the space in the public square. Fortunately, our founders established a society that opposed the communist’s model. However, in recent times our national political imagination has undergone a transformation that was as stealthy as it was ill-considered.

For most of our history we did not, but do now, equate education with the “state”. Prayer is no longer allowed in education because it has become a violation of the separation of church and “state”, and since the “state” (federal government) contributes funds to education, education has become the “state”. In the past education was an autonomous participant in society, but has now been hijacked by the “state”, and we as a people have blithely assented to the collapse of the wall of separation that used to exist between education and state. The union of these two was unwise and has contributed to unhealthy consequences in our American democratic experiment.

Now we are being asked to allow the “state” to occupy even more of the public square by the union of health care and “state”. There are countless reasons (especially in dollars) to oppose this, but there is one

Any federal legislation becomes the state when it usurps the Constitution by granting powers to Congress not expressly written in Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution.

When health care becomes the state, you get over-inflated politicians and policy makers whoare empowered (within themselves) to make statements like the following:

"We are God's partners in matters of life and death," Barack Hussein Obama, August 19, 2009 in a call to Rabbis quoting from the Rosh Hashanah prayer that also says it can be decided, “who shall live and who shall die.”

But the American people are awakening as a result of the health care plan and are angry...and tired of being the patsy for all of the marxistic, socailistic, destructive, initiative-robbing, liberty-destroying, un-American, and unconstituional actions of the DNC, Dems, left, MSM, and RINOs.

Because health care effects every one, and because the American people intrinsically know that government bureaucracy makes them less efficient, the American people are downloading the Dem Health Care Plan HERE and elsewhere and educating themselves.

They are also reading the cited quotes of the main architect of the plan and Chief Advisor to Obama on Health Care HERE and elsewhere, and seeing the context of the plan from the designer of it.

There are some issues, some particularly fundemental issues, where if someone is calling for fundamentally changing them or destroying them, that you cannot keep quiet about because they impact you directly. The agent of change (in this case Obama himself and the Congress), must hear, see, and feel the passion that is opposing him.

The slumbering giant is stirring...and he's waking up hopping mad.
