You guessed it -- Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were just thrilled to announce that they're expecting their 19th child. As usual, Viera just oohed and ahhed over the fantastic news, which comes only a few months after the eldest Duggar kid, Josh, announced that his new wife Anna is expecting their first child.

amen ..as an only child for 13 years and now father to five children I get it too
if we'd started earlier we'd have 9-10 is my guess
i love absolutely having a big brood...but some folks value their own time a lot...which is fine
i admit to not getting loving couples who choose not to have kids at all...most are sorta odd that I've known...self obsessed and set in their own ways and more often lefties...and even worse...Mac users who ride bicycles /s
i feel horrible for folks who can't have children but want them
excellent point B!
G-d bless ‘em. Wish we could afford a few more!
Give me 19 Duggar children any day over 19 new little Jihadists being spawned.
besides...making kids is darn fun...aside from serving God, it’s like one of the reasons we’re here and is so pleasant a pastime
You sure seem to have a visceral hatred of this family. I don't see why they deserve such vitriol. The last time I checked this was still a free country. They *chose* to have these children, they are NOT on the public dole. The children are well-behaved and seem close to one another.... No smirky, eye-rolling by the teenagers. Sure they make money on their TV show - SO WHAT? Why is that so terrible. They are showing most of America a different lifestyle than they are used to seeing. They may inspire someone to change a few things in their own household.
I only have 2 children , so I'm not "like" the Duggars but fail to see why they should suffer such criticism when there are so many other parents who are doing such dreadful jobs with their families. JMO
nothing wrong with charismatics btw
And what is wrong with that? They have figured out a way to support their huge family. As far as I can tell, none of them have turned to selling crack. And what is wrong with engaging an older child to watch over a younger child? Mama Michelle may be a wonder, but she does not have eyes in the back of her head. My father came from a family of 9 (out of 15 pregnancies) and that is how my grandmother raised them during the Depression era -- all college graduates, responsible, & successful adults -- unfortunately, all deceased now.
Watching after a younger child is called the "buddy system" in the pricey summer camps where the upwardly mobile professionals send their spoiled children for the summer so they can have "me" time.
I agree, they should have written a book...but I am guessing (and I don’t begrudge profit making) there isn’t as much money in a ‘self help book’ publication as there is in a series of TV shows (the Duggars go to Disney! The Duggars go to NYC!).
Like the Gosslins (Jon and Kate Plus 8); the Little People Big World family (name escapes me); they get a paycheck from the all intrusive, all seeing TV camera crews. Why? Great source of income...but at what price.
The Duggar’s son’s wedding was on a later episode. The girl was captured in private moments; thoughts; at such a special time in her young life...what for? the ratings of her inlaws TV show? The Duggar girls’ (again from their own shows) look like teens going on 40 chatting about cooking for 18. Daily. Or about the wonders of their ‘new’ appliances.
Your picture is about four kids short. BTW, they built this house themselves and it's has been paid in full. They get nothing from the government.
And years from now the Duggans and their children will be remembered by their descendants while all the smarmy post-modernists who chose “rewarding” careers over families will die alone... in nursing homes.. forgotten. Children are the future and a stay at home mom is far more important to our futures than just another cog in some corporate wheel. I notice none of their kids have been arrested or are on drugs. Most of their critics can’t say that.
Having assigned chores /jobs didn’t see to hurt anyone for hundreds of years. As example look at how the west was settled. Children in families were expected to do far worse chores from dawn until dusk with no modern appliances.
maybe the verdict is still out on this family, maybe we will see in a few more years as more grow up and leave the family. If most of them go on to lead productive lives then it didn’t hurt them to work during their childhood. I wouldn’t be surprised to have 1 or 2 rebel, just the law of averages.
For now they are certainly learning responsibility and how to care for themselves, something too few children of today learn.
As far as them contacting ABC does it say it in the story they contacted ABC? I had not heard of this family until number 17 and then only a small story in Dallas paper so I doubt they are having children for the fame.
Certainly different than 3rd generation welfare mothers having more to get increase in WIC etc govt money. wouldn’t you say?
No...no ‘visceral hatred’ (hyperbole much/) just a candid critique of their TV show. Sorry...but I don’t think making your kids a ‘cottage industry’ and alerting the media (’hey, ABC...number 19 is on the way’) is any different (other than their conservative political ideology) than the Goselins; or even Octomom. They are ‘selling’ their kids lifestyle as a commidity.
Writing a book (no TV camera crew camped out in house) and extolling the virtues of their lifestyle...perfect. They profit (though not as much); and they get their beliefs, ideals and how to logistics ‘out there’ for like minded families to learn from. Having a camera crew do a close up of your 14 year old daughter as she struggles with heavy stock pots for lunch for 18 doesn’t leave any better impression (to me) than Kate Gosslin lamenting her ‘control’ issues.
It is a TV show and it is a good one!
I'm sure she does since she helped put those tiles on the ceiling.
uh, they have a TV show, just what kind of finance genius do you think he is? Rental property only goes so far, huge house, 2K a week food bills, giant RV, trips everywhere. Same deal as Jon and Kate, but to their credit they are handling it much better.
These people need to get a TV.
No kidding.
They are the nicest people you would ever want to meet. And they are very conservative. He used to be in congress in Arkansas.
They also have many businesses, one which teaches responsible spending and saving which means you buy only what you can afford and pay for it. They practice what they preach.
They home school all of their children and they all play musical instruments.
