Ex-Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich claims in a new book White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel wanted a "placeholder" to fill his House seat so he could return to Congress in 2010 to pursue the speaker's job.
Officially, the White House didn't want to discuss the book yesterday, but sources who know Emanuel dismissed it as another rant from the indicted Blagojevich, who sources say needs the book to help pay his mounting bills.
"Rahm understandably wanted to keep his options open," Blagojevich, wrote in his upcoming book, "The Governor." "That's what all good politicians do."
Blagojevich said Emanuel made the inquiry Nov. 8, two days after President Obama named him chief of staff.
The problem with Blagojevich's claims is that the governor does not appoint a replacement for a vacant House seat.

The “placeholder” issue was well known to many in Illinois who were paying attention when this was going down. Nothing new here, move along. It is Illinois Combine politics as usual.

Let’s just hope the good ex-governor has his tape recorder playing and has other evidence to back this up. Wouldn’t it be ironic if Rahm were hamstrung by one of his own?
In this case I am inclined to believe Blago.
The problem with this—or any other of Blago’s revelations or allegations—is that they are so easily dismissed as the self-serving fabrications of a nutcase liar. Being accused by Blago is a dream come true for someone guilty-as-sin. Unless there are tapes, Rahm is doing pirouettes in his tutu.

Blago knows where all the bodies are buried and will use this knowledge to take down Emmanual and others and probably implicate Obama in some shady deals. I am sure he is cutting some deals with the US District Attorney until Obama appoints some shill to the post.
