HILLSBOROUGH (WTVD) -- A Hillsborough homeowner took matters into his own hands when would-be burglars entered his home.
The home is located on Faucette Mill Road. The homeowner told police he heard someone forcing his door open so he got his gun and found three people standing in his living room.
Police said he fired one shot and hit 19-year-old Christopher Williams in the chest.
The homeowner said after the shooting, he saw four men running from his house.

all the ‘ would be ‘ punks should get field trips like that, it might save one of their lives
I love a happy ending.
If there was a fatality during the commission of the crime... then shouldn't those guys be charged for the death of their co-conspirator too?
I hope he didn’t have tooooo much clean up to do ... article says he saw 4 people fleeing. No doubt with damp panties. Armpits and hineyholes sucking wind.
I love a story with a happy ending, but his efficiency factor leaves something to ponder .. why did he only nail the one? 3 urchins left to roam the streets.
One of my girls who is just out on her own was over the other evening looking at my riot gun for options in an apartment security package. I told her that it was a very simple thing to use: Grab the slide, pull it back, push it forward, and pull the trigger. Repeat until you get a "click" then turn the gun around and used it as a club if there is anyone moving.
Have you looked at the cost of ammo these days?
And since when is he required to clean up the mess created by others?
I’ll take the happy ending.
Audricus? Memo to Brinks Home Security: Nothing to see here, move along.
Those Irish Americans are nothing but trouble!
nah, no bias there...I guess they were just undocumented tresspassers till they actually 'burgled'...
this 'vigilante' acting like charles bronson shouldve stayed at home and let the authorities...oh wait...
the MSM said, disdainfully.
Citizen response team award coming. Well done.
For years I have heard the NRA criticized for the one page titled The Armed Citizen in The American Rifleman. "It might make honest citizens into vigilantes" or a similar statement
Almost daily here on FreeRepublic I see enough stories to fill The Armed Citizen page.
Guns do save lives.
Does this imply that he might be charged sometime soon?
Just another lib reporter?
I have heard the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area in North Carolina referred to as The Liberal Triangle.
He shot the one kid in the chest, obviously protecting himself.
The others ran like hell he would have had to shoot them in the back, and although personally I feel he would have been justified, I am sure he would have to explain why he shot them while they were leaving. Not sure that knowing how hard his adrenaline was pumping and how pissed he was that his home had been invaded I could have stopped shooting. But he made the wise choice.
But look at the cost to the taxpayers when these perps get caught the next time and the time after that.
Ammo costs are up,, but not that much.
You should take your daughter to the range and have someone show her how to use that shotgun.
Perhaps the reporter meant that he hasn’t been charged the cost of cleaning up the living room wall; that the bill was paid by the city, grateful for his contribution to building a peaceful, civil society.
