Wall Street Journal: Israel May Attack Iran

WASHINGTON - The United States must curb the Iranian nuclear program or deal with the consequences of an Israeli military strike, the Wall Street Journal warned US President Barack Obama on Monday.

According to the most important conservative newspaper in America, a military conflict with Iran would be inevitable, if the West failed to act quickly.

In its editorial, the newspaper accused the Obama Administration of investing more diplomatic efforts during its first seven months diplomatic warning Israel not to strike than it has rallying the world to stop Iran.

"US and Israeli military officials we've spoken to are confident an Israeli strike could deal a significant blow to Iran's programs, even if some elements would survive," the newspaper said. "The longer Israel waits, however, the more steps Iran can take to protect its intallations."

I think that it is clear as crystal that if Iran’s nuclear programs aren’t stopped by the next couple of months, Israel will take them out. The only things Obama could do to prevent it would be to attack Israel (unlikely), or get Iran to disarm the nukes. It is hard to see how he accomplishes this without military action, since Iran clearly considers him to be a weak sister.

No kidding! They have only been saying that for several months (years) now...

Others think they should just lay down and let Iran go for broke - wait until a nuclear warhead is heading their way...does not sound like a way to survive though, but hey, what do I know... Maybe all of Iran’s talk is just that...

As soon as Iran gets a few...then the domino effect takes place. Egypt, Syria, Libya...will follow within a few years. Israel is justified in any action it takes to protect itself.

With Obama sinking in the polls the Green Light is ON.

Iran must be crapping a brick.

Meanwhile we have Afghanistan that has come to a long overdue crossroads with the need to either go forward with greater military might (more boots on the ground)...

... or declare defeat with the knowledge that it will greatly embolden global muslim terrorism to strike us from all sides...

obama is once again showing his total inability to act as CIC - and unfortunately its costing unnecessary lives of or American heroes in Afghanistan.. and likely many 10s of thousands more here on US soil

Obama (and America by default) is learning that making friends does not protect the world. Settling a dispute on a basketball court doesn’t make you a maker of world peace (as insinuated by numerous news articles on his great diplomacy skills) when you are dealing with irrational muslims and people desperate to stay alive.

True - however I would say:

obama “attempts” to make what he considers “friends” by making apologies for what he sees as all of America’s alleged errors and wrong actions over the past 50 years

and we know that’s not working out

Bombing Iran is probably not going to be needed. More likley they are going to have a very bad “accident” and punch their own ticket.

I have wondered why say N.Korea doesn’t have an “accident” while their missile is on the launch pad. Sort of a space based accident at that.

"In recent days, the Administration has begun taking a harder line against Tehran… but unless Obama gets serious, and soon, about stopping Iran from getting a bomb, he'll be forced to deal with the consequences of Israel acting in its own defense."

I personally think he wants there to be an attack on Iran. It would create further 'crisis' in America to allow him more power usurpation.

Well then, expect an Israeli attack, because the West won't do squat to stop Iran's nuke program. We've already proven that.

I agree. Bombing is such an obvious action, that Iran has probably taken measures to minimize that impact. But, an “accident” that exposes a few thousand people to radiation would cause the entire world to come down on them.

Egypt doesn't bother me as they have been allowing Israel to use the Suez to war game Iranian strikes. Egypt does not want Iran to have nukes. Neither do the Saudi's. Those two do not like Iran at all.

Pretty please, Israel! You are our last hope. USA has gone relative, global and servant to its bankers.
