The State Fair is known for the Midway, the Grandstand shows, and even 'political theater.'
That's very evident at the Republican Party booth Monday, where some people are standing in line to make a point.
By late afternoon, there were few hardcore Republicans still in line trying to win a $2,500 prize—as part of a 'point' to illustrate what could become common under a Democratic health care reform plan.
"Welcome to our new reality television show—standing in line for Obamacare," announced GOP Parry Chairman Tony Sutton.
Republicans lined up contestants to stand in line—maybe through Labor Day—to show what might happen with government-run health care.
Glydewell Burdick stayed long enough to send a message about surviving an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
"If my doc didn't get on the ball and gotten to it quickly, if he'd waited another four to six weeks. I wouldn't be standing here I don't believe," she said.
But not everyone passing by the "Obama health care line" agreed with the message.
"I had a foot problem last year—waited two months to see a doctor. We have rationed health care and I'm in a managed care system," said Mike Elliot of Minnetonka.
Over at the DFL booth, volunteers handed out health care reform informational packets. They say the line is just another Republican scare tactic.

I went to the fair on Friday. Sat down on one of the benches in front of the AM1500 broadcast shack at 9:00 AM.
With my “Bob Davis” t-shirt on.

Who knows? My own mother, who lives in Fla tries to tell me “oh he’s so wonderful & he says that those are just scare tactics that the republicans are using”. I said “Oh for God sakes mother, read the bill...just read it! Don’t listen to me, don’t listen to the news, read the bill for yourself...then YOU decide if you are going to believe anything this idiot in the WH tells you about your healthcare!”
I understand. There are those that take that line of least resistance. They don’t realize climbing uphill pushing a boulder is harder than looking for oneself.
However, I do believe in what goes around comes around. Not even Obama can stop that. I have never seen it fail. Obama is being exposed for the loser he really is.

I agree whole heartedly with you here. You know one of my daughter’s friends was over the other day & she heard me ranting about the deathcare. She said the her father says that only the democrats look out for the poor, & that republicans only make the rich get richer....
Well, there was no stopping me then - I went off on the poor thing. I told her to very respectfully ask her father how millions of dollars to a stinking pig, a swamp duck & the DNA of a grape are helping the poor? And thats just for starters...

Fairly tame, with no elections this year. Some verbal sparring, nothing too heavy....

Not a chance. He HATES being at the fair. My claim is that he went national just to avoid fair duty.
