Unassuming Nancy — the woman and wife behind the rapist Philip Garrido

To the outside world she was plain, modest Nancy, the other half of Phil the printer. Neighbours knew her as a full-time carer for Phillip Garrido’s ageing mother and a part-time accountant for his printing business.
In reality Nancy Garrido provided the cover that helped her husband, a convicted sex attacker, to keep the authorities at bay. When neighbours spotted children at the house they reasoned that it must be OK because he lived with his wife.
But Mrs Garrido, 55, is facing life in prison for being her husband’s alleged partner in nearly two decades of child rape, imprisonment and abuse. Police believe that he could not have done it without her.
Prosecutors have given her equal billing on the 16-page charge sheet. She is accused of forcible rape, committing a forcible lewd act upon a child and of false imprisonment by violence, among 29 other charges dating from the day that Jaycee Lee Dugard was snatched from South Lake Tahoe, in California, in 1991.

Facing life in prison? Nobody gets that anymore.
What’s been lost in this is that the father who observed the abduction was considered a suspect in the kidnapping for awhile. It broke his marriage up.
And along the way there were people calling in complaints and tips. And lack of followup on a convicted sex offender.
But they are good at filling out paperwork and looking through evidence after the fact. CSI has some good labs.
There is not enough punishment in the world for these two sub-humans.
I guess that’s why hell was created.
Its one of those neighborhoods that the sheriff likes to stay away from. You don't like to "go in" without backup.
She fell in love with him while he was imprisoned the first time around. Right off there’s trouble. What’s about some women who chase bad boys. I mean seriously bad boys.
I recently saw a piece on TV where the perp got “life in prison without parole for eight years.” I still can’t find any kind of an explanation of what that means. Must be one of those “truth in sentencing” things.
This is the part of this story that has been keeping awake at night!

Has to wait 8 years before parole possible, I’d think. But if paroled, would have to report to parole officer for the rest of life.

I believe in swift capital punishment for abduction or rape, the only exception being if a parent “abducts” their child to prevent abuse. Let’s get rid of that genetic defect.
