Oh my : New Zogby poll shows Obama’s approval at … 42%

It’s not quite as bad as it looks, but it’s plenty bad. Since last month, he’s down 13 points among Democrats, nine points among liberals, and 18 points among voters 18 to 29.

No public option, no peace?

Pollster John Zogby: President Obama is now firmly between a rock and a hard place. Democrats want a strong healthcare reform bill with a public option. Republicans and more conservative Democrats do not agree.

If Obama fails to get a bill that his base supporters want, the entire Democratic Party risks alienating them; especially 18-29-year-old First Globals, who could very quickly become disenchanted with politics. Obama needs to enter the fray in a very public way, which may mean knocking heads with both wings of his own party.

18-29-year-old First Globals, who could very quickly become disenchanted with politics.

This would probably be the best thing Obama could do for us.

If Obama fails to get a bill that his base supporters want,...

... they're only getting a continuation of his previous record in office. (he was Senator "present" before he became Pres__ent)

“Obama needs to enter the fray in a very public way, which may mean knocking heads with both wings of his own party.”

Go ahead, pass a public option bill with no Republican votes against public opinion. Make my day.

He dosen’t care if he is at 0%. He is in the driver’s seat and has a destination. Obama is on a path to fundamentally change America, and all he has to do to accomplish all his goals is to keep congress on track with him. Obama could not care less about re-election.

it’s bad because it means the MSM and late night comics will now treat him like Gov Paterson in NY. He’s just not cool anymore.

he has all these vague ideas but he doesn’t have a clear path. His plan was basically this:
1. sign stimulus
2. ?
3. Profit!

He’s not profiting. The economy is still a wreck and his filibuster proof congress isn’t rolling over for obamacare

In a newly-released book (The Way We’ll Be: The Zogby Report on the Transformation of the American Dream) John Zogby highlights the emerging influence of the First Globals, whom his book calls “the most outward-looking and accepting generation in American history.” First Globals, he says, are more socially tolerant and internationally aware.

According to Zogby the First Globals are causing a “fundamental reorientation of the American character away from wanton consumption and toward a new global citizenry in an age of limited resources.”

Rasmussen has him at 46%, yet the media is silent.

When Bush’s (1 and 2) job approval ratings dropped one point, it lead the newscast.

Obama drops 10 pts. in one month and it doesn’t even get mentioned.

it has to be sustainable. It can’t be a one month low because 1 month out of 4 years isn’t much. So they’ll keep trying and trying until they realize obama can’t be helped anymore.

That's a good thing. obama could recover if he responded properly to his many mistakes, and that would make him more effective in his remaining 3 1/2 years. We are far better off if the druggie in our White House destroys his public image so completely that any socialist proposal he floats is instantly shot down by patriotic conservatives and by the remaining patriotic liberals. I hope the media continues enabling obama's inept performance!

Still to high. It should be lower than the percentage of people who call themselves Democrats - since some Democrats have soured on him.

I find it disturbing that many 18-29 year olds are reflexively against anything conservative. They say the US Constitution is outdated, and the govt has a moral duty to care for everyone. I really hope Obama becomes a big flop. Because once a new voter selects the same political party for two straight Presidential races, he/she is hooked for life.

Obama may yet turn out to be a good thing.
Seeing him leave office in disgrace, with a 3% approval rating, would be a good thing.

Back to Chicago to swap stories with Blagovich.
