Teen convert claims Ohio mosque tied to terrorists

Aug. 31, 2009 ORLANDO, Fla. -- An attorney for an Ohio teen who says she ran away from home because she feared punishment for converting to Christianity from Islam is alleging the family's mosque in Ohio has ties to terrorists.
Rifqa (Reef-kuh) Bary's attorney filed a sworn statement from the 17-year-old in family court in Orlando on Monday. In the affidavit, the teen says her family regularly attended gatherings at the Noor Islamic Cultural Center in suburban Columbus, Ohio.
The documents claim the center has hosted extremist speakers and supported a scholar with ties to the militant group Hamas.

Big freaking surprise that is.
Problem is this administration will do nothing about it. Obama might just send them a medal.
I would be amazed and happy to know that they didn’t have
ties to unsavory characters.
Mosque was probably built with Saudi money. Unfortunately, we have FReepers here who are quite supportive of the Saudis.

.
Aren’t they all?
agree - by definition they are all as far as i am concerned.
A mosque that did not support jihadis would be considered apostate. At the least, it would not receive Saudi subsidies, at worst the imam would be “disappeared” and replaced.
People should not convert other people’s minor children and convert the to another religion.
In fact, it should be against the law.
and a lot of freepers who are islamic.
I have not heard how close or far this girl is from turning 18. Anybody here know that?
People should not convert other peoples minor children to another religion.
In fact, it should be against the law.
And the couple in Florida should go to jail for kidnapping.
This is a correct statement as far as it goes, but he left out the part where the Koran requires that the punishment for converting from Islam is death. Maybe he just forgot?
I believe she turned 17 in June or July so she has a way to go yet.
The Noor ICC, is located in the Hilliard/Dublin suburb of Columbus. Noor President is Hany Saqr. One of Saqr closest associates is also Hilliard resident Salah Sultan who served as scholar-in-residence at the NICC. Sultan has close ties to Lebanese Muslim Brotherhood leader Faisal al-Malawi and Hamas spiritual leader Yusaf al-Qaradawi.
He serves on the board for two of Qaradawi's organizations, International Association of Muslim Scholars and European Council for Fatwa and Research. Both Qaradawi and Malawi are both banned from the US for their support of Hamas and other terrorist organizations, and issuing fatwas allowing the suicide bombing of civilians. In 2004, Qaradawi, Malawi, and Sulan issued a fatwa in the name of IAMS calling for jihad against american troops in Iraq. Sultan is a member of the Fiqh Council of North America, which bills itself as the top islamic rulling body in the U.S. Sultan appeard on Egpytian tv preaching Jewish hatred and predicting death and destruction for America.

Here is another video where he claims the US was behind 9/11 and praising Osama bin Laden's mentor, Abdul-Majid Al-Zindani.

He told Saudi TV the 9/11 attacks were planned by the U.S. government.
The entire thing was of a large scale and was planned within the U.S., in order to enable the U.S. to control and terrorize the entire world, Sultan said.
His application for U.S. citizenship was denied after he appeared at a Hamas rally in Turkey last summer. But hes still allowed to enter the U.S. and move around freely.
Other infamous NICC speakers have included:
Muslim Brotherhood figure Wagdi Ghoneim. He was later arrested, deported, and banned from the US for his advocacy of terrorism and Islamic religious extremism. He since has been deported from South Africa for the same reasons. He claimed that eating and drinking with your left hand follows Satan, and whoever loves the Prophet Mumammad must eat with his right hand. He refered to Jews as "Monkeys" and "pigs" in his speeches.
Salam Al Marayati: Selected by Dick Gephardt to serve on a 10-member congressional commission on terrorism. Later he was kicked off because of numerous statements he made in support of terrorism and its organizations. He's asserted that the Hezbollah suicide attack on the US Marine barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 american servicemen, was not a terrorist attack, but a military operation. Just hours after 9/11 attacks, he declared that "we should put the state of isreal on the suspect list". Al-Marayati is also executive director and co-founder of MPAC (Muslim Public Affairs Council).
Siraj Wahhaj: Unindicted co-conspirator of the first attack on the WTC, the parking garage bombing in 1993.
Haris Tarin: One of the leaders of MPAC. Involved in MAS (Muslim American Society) which was named by Department of Justice as co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror financing trial and front organization for the Muslim Brotherhood.
Ive heard it said by reliable sources that every Muslim who attends mosque regularly is knowingly or unknowingly rubbing shoulders with those who are involved in some capacity with terrorism—most having a pretty good certainty of it, and keeping quiet.
Ah, to have the problem of having a way to go yet before turning 18!
Not to make light of this poor girl's plight, but your statement just struck the "If I knew then what I know now" nerve.
“People should not convert other peoples minor children to another religion.”
And yet, it’s okay for Muslims to force an 8 year old girl to marry.
Sorry, but 17 is old enough. If a kid can be emancipated at 14 or 15, a 17 year old can make up their own mind about their religion.
Nice non sequitur.

Sorry, but 17 is not old enough to be taken across state lines, sequestered and converted to Islam all without the consent of their parents.
If a Muslim did that to my 17 year old daughter, I would be pissed and would want the law to intercede.
Nice non sequitur.
Yes, it does follow. Her parents are upset, claiming the girl is not old enough (using our own laws against us). Yet their own religion allows what we consider to be a "child" to enter into an adult relationship. It's called hypocrisy -- on their part. An 8 year old can do this adult thing, but a 17 year old can't do that adult thing.

Was she taken or did she go on her own volition? It's certainly not a violation of the Mann Act ... unless.

Of course you would be "pissed" and you wouldn't want anyone to get in your way unless the outcome was in your favor. I can certainly understand that. I'd doubt you'd become violent though, and hurt her. That is why an impartial judge should sort it out. I would agree that such a thing should be rare, but if she proves to be thoughtful, mature, not under the control or undue influence of others, and sincere in her beliefs, then she should be entitled to them, without fear of retribution. Even if the judge agreed that she was "taken, sequestered and converted", she may need to be kept away from her parents until she is a lawful adult (a ward of the state) for her own protection; and if she still holds to her faith, then so be it.
The real problem is that she is in fear for her life, and from what we know about Islam, she has every right to be.
And on that point we would probably both agree, Islam is not a religion, but a system of total control that uses religion as a tool to gain total control. That is why you wouldn't want the tables turned on you (alluding to your second and third comments). If it happened to me, I'd want blood. If it were another form of Christianity, I'd study it and decide for myself whether it was a destructive cult or benign. Even then, I would keep in mind that early forms of Christianity were rather militant. Anything else like Hinduism or Buddhism, I'd roll my eyes and say, "Meh ... this, too, will pass." But then, most Muslims are not reasonable people like you and me.
