The election will be held 2 March 2010. Fellow Texan Freepers, please investigate Debra Medina's positions and consider giving her candidacy your support.
Texas: Oil & Gas Exploration & Production
Texas: Oil Refining: gas, diesel, jet fuel, plastics
Texas: Farming & Agriculture
Texas: High-Tech Industries
Texas: Lower unemployment
Texas: Lower taxes
If Texas pulled out, I would move there in a minute.
Thank you for posting this, I am not familiar with Debra Medina. I’ll definitely be checking this out tonight.
Hey there Meek! I thought you might want to send a ping to your list Texans. :)
My pleasure.
good luck to her...wish i could still vote in texas.
Texas could easily survive on its own as a independent nation. We are self-sufficient in POL, energy, energy distribution, and water. We could become self-sufficient in food and fiber as well. Unlike most other states, independence for Texas is a possible dream.
The federal government in Washington DC is not just going to stand on the platform waving a tear-stained handkerchief as the Lone Star Express pulls out of the station, however. Anything beyond talking about secession will result in blood being shed.
The question, then, is how much will the people of Texas take before it becomes more than just talk?
I wonder, and it would be interesting to see, what position the militaries (state guard & U.S. Military) would take. I believe that we are coming upon a time in this nation when that will be tested.
The Texas State Guard is the military of the State of Texas. It has no connection to the federal government.
If Texas were to secede, the federal government would eventually declare a state of insurrection and seek to re-establish control by military means, including invasion and occupation. The men and women at Fort Hood and other United States military installation in Texas would be ordered to participate in these actions. My guess is that they would choose to do so.
I think that any talk of secession should be reserved until after the federal government sheds the blood of U.S. civilians (think Waco x 100). Any revived Republic of Texas wouldn’t stand a chance against the might of the U.S. military. Therefore, we must wait until the Clampdown comes and alienates a significant percentage of the members of the U.S. armed forces from the federal government before we can hope that they would disobey orders to invade and occupy our state.
Right now we’re at the Tienanmen stage of the situation; if we cause too much trouble, the tanks will roll over us. What we have to do is bide our time until we can get some of the tank crews to turn their treads 180° and face Washington.
Who is backing her and who is her husband? Just curious.
Now I understand why Rick was not at the meeting. She is running for Governor against him.
She has the fire in the belly, but is completely unknown to me.
I’ve said several times on FR. We (Texas and other States) need to firmly press our 10th Amendment rights with the Fed.
Force the Fed through escalating resistance to follow the constitution. If after exhausting legal means and an escalated political confrontation, then declare the contract with the US broken. Since the Constitutional contract is null and void, we are leaving. Calculate the value of the Federal assets we are taking, the value of the Federal assets we paid for, the Federal debt which is our share - make the offer, call a Constitutional Convenion and leave.
I do not see the US military willing to invade and occupy us. A shooting war is not in our interest - war just leaves devastation and death behind. When war is necessary, do it, but, we have plenty of recent examples of countries separating peacefully. And, if they do start the war, well, let’s just end the fantasy that this is a Constitutional Republic. Everyone would lose, but the lie would be exposed.
Texas, whatever you do, DON’T JOIN THE UN! Screw that anti-American outfit.
