Open Cluster M25

Explanation: Many stars like our Sun were formed in open clusters.

The above pictured open cluster, M25, contains thousands of stars and is about two thousand light years distant.

The stars in this cluster all formed together about 90 million years ago.

The bright young stars in M25 appear blue.

Open clusters, also called galactic clusters, contain fewer and younger stars than globular clusters.

Also unlike globular clusters, open clusters are generally confined to the plane of our Galaxy.

M25 is visible with binoculars towards the constellation of the Archer ( Sagittarius).

God is in His heavens, and He rules over all!
He knows all His stars by name.
Good thing to know when nothing else makes sense!

Warm summer nights.
You can see your way clearly just by starlight.
Laying flat on your back in the field of new mown hay.
A sky so big and inviting you feel you could just jump right in.
Trying to count stars and losing count over and over and not caring at all.
How can you not believe?

I took this image a few days ago of the Eagle Nebula M16, and the "Pillars of Creation" at the center.

Not quite Hubble but I was happy with it.

The Eagle Nebula is part of a diffuse emission nebula, and has active new star formations. The nebula is about 6,500 light-years distant from earth. The star cluster within the nebula is also known as NGC 6611.

According to best estimates, the tower of gas near the center of the image is approximately 57 trillion miles (97 trillion km) high.

Thanks, appreciate the comment.

Yep, I took that from my little humble backyard observatory where I spend many nights trying to escape this planet, even if it's only for a short while.

Thank Dusty..

On this object, during the image taking process I thought I'd screwed up while taking the dark images, which are taken to remove the dark current "noise" from the actual image. I was a little surprised that this processed out as well as it did.
