I BELIEVE PSYCHO SON IS A KILLER (SHAME OF JAYCEE FIEND'S FATHER)

His own dad thinks he's not only a sexually perverted monster, but a murderer, too.

Manuel Garrido, 87, sullenly acknowledged yesterday that he believes his son Phillip -- charged in the horrifying child abduction and rape of Jaycee Dugard -- is also the killer in a slew of unsolved cases involving prostitutes and other young women.

"He was a sex addict -- that was his problem," Manuel Garrido told The Post. "I believe my son killed the prostitutes."

Dad of Accused Jaycee Kidnapper: He's a Killer
NBC

The father of the accused kidnapper charged with keeping a girl as his sex slave for nearly two decades believes his own son is a sex addict -- and a cold-blooded killer. Manuel Garrido said he believes his son, Phillip, who stands accused of abducting Jaycee Dugard and fathering her two children, is involved in the slayings of other women, according the New York Post.

"He was a sex addict, that was his problem," his father told The Post. "I believe my son killed the prostitutes." Nearly two dozen officers spent the weekend combing the Antioch, Calif., property where the couple hid Jaycee -- and the two children she eventually had with Phillip -- in a squalid compound of tents concealed by brush in their backyard for 18 years.

Phillip and Nancy Garrido are accused of turning Dugard into a sex slave after they plucked her from a bus stop near her South Lake Tahoe home when she was just 11 years old. Cops scoured the property with rakes, shovels and chain saws over the weekend in the hopes of linking the couple to any other cases in the area. Cadaver dogs were unleashed in a yard of the couple's neighbor, where one of the suspects served as a caretaker.

The owner of the property is not a suspect, cops said. Dugard, now 29, was reunited with her mother, sister and another relative last Thursday. She is said to be in good health, but feeling guilty about developing a bond with Garrido, said her stepfather Carl Probyn. Her two children, 11 and 15, remain with her.

"Jaycee has strong feelings with this guy. She really feels it's almost like a marriage," said Probyn, who was there when little Jaycee was snatched from a bus stop in 1991 and has been in contact with her mother since they found out the girl was alive.

"Hi, mom, I have babies," was Dugard's first words to her mother when they were reunited Thursday, Probyn said. The couple pleaded not guilty last Friday to 29 counts, including forcible abduction, rape and false imprisonment. There were several close calls in the past. In 2006, neighbor Damon Robinson's then-girlfriend called police after she saw tents and children in the backyard. The responding officer failed to discover the encampment where authorities say Dugard was kept captive.

Police in Pittsburg are investigating whether Phillip Garrido, whose home is in nearby Antioch, is linked to several unsolved murders of prostitutes in the early 1990s. Antioch police are also looking into unsolved cases but declined further details.

Garrido seemed incoherent and mentally unstable, and the girls wore drab-colored dresses, were unusually subdued and had an unnaturally pale complexion, said Lisa Campbell, a special-events unit manager with UC Berkeley's police department.

How could his dad not have known this was going on since 1991?

What’s sad is I doubt the mental capacity of this girl is even that of a teenager. She’s been brainwashed and held captive with NO chance for mental growth. She is probably confused and scared....she needs many prayers.

He stopped seeing his son many many years ago. There was no relationship there.

Because he hasn't seen his son in years. Didn't know where he was either as per an earlier story.

The US doesn’t have an appropriate punishment for this animal. Perhaps we can borrow something from the Romans.

He has a brother, too, who thought he was creepy and crazy and basically just stayed away from him. Dugard had already been in prison once for kidnapping and rape, and had received a sentence of 50 years (released after 11, of course), so they knew there was something wrong and it wasn’t just their imagination. So they just kept their distance.

Nobody seems to be saying anything about the wife, but she was the one who grabbed Jaycee. What was her motivation? She also had to know that her husband was the father of Jaycee’s children. That was fine as far as she was concerned? Was she just totally under his spell?

Dugard is Jaycee’s surname—you mean Garrido.

I read that she and her daughters are in counseling with their newly reunited family members. Pray the counselors get it right.

Btw, did you ever think that your FR nick would apply 10 years later?

Something that I read said they hadn’t been married long and his wife was cowed also. She met him in prison while visiting someone else. NOT a place to pick a mate!

She needs to be put down, too.

"Jaycee has strong feelings with this guy. She really feels it's almost like a marriage,"

Very complicated ideas and feelings. I'm trying to get into her head to try to understand how she eventually felt like this. She fully knows she was abducted against her will, yet if she didnt leave the shack for 18 years, he must have provided everything she needed for herself and her two kids as far as food, pampers, etc. It does not appear that she tried to escape at any point. She and her kids will need a lot of counseling. God bless them.

She was probably brain-washed. A version of Stockholm Syndrome. It would be remarkably easy to break someone, especially a child.

This guy was let out after serving only 11 years of a 50 year sentence for kidnap and rape. It seems as if the justice system needs to find a more secure and less expensive way of dealing with criminals who, in the old days, would simply have been hanged. And rightly so.

The criminal justice system in California seems to have devolved to the point where the only important considerations are how many taxpayer dollars are being spent and how much money and benefits they can scrape up for the prison workers’ union.
