For the Nat'l Palestinian Radio, the article posted on the web was fairly neutral. I didn't hear, and can't hear at work, the full radio bit.

NPR is listened to by old people. If the old people doubt what they’ll say, their constituents will stop listening to it. If nobody is listening, it will become a tax sinkhole, and most likely canned. NPR might be trying to show some modicrum of neutrality to save face with the increasingly disenchanted with Obama.

“so called” tea parties? I find that description demeaning. I know it can also mean “commonly called” but it also means suspect or doubtful, wrongly called, etc.

I suppose NPR never noticed that leftwing groups have been advertising for thugs?

Has NPR reported the big cuts coming in Medicare?

NPR is funded by govt, it will be there as long as politicians want it there.

If old people are listening to NPR, then they are woefully ill-informed

“So called” is used almost exclusively by the Left. It is a partner with “some say.”

They feel compelled to use it when they have to utter or refer to words that are distasteful to their “sensibilities.”

If we could get into the habit we might benefit from the same tactic, but our brains are not reflexively attuned to the language of the Left.

They never say “pro-life” or “partial-birth abortion” without their qualifier of “so-called.”

We should train our brains to say “so-called same-sex marriage” or “so-called pro-choice,” etc.
