A Jaguar convertible sits in the driveway of Latasha Jackson's million-dollar mansion in Menomonee Falls. Built on a hill with a sprawling back deck overlooking a pond, the 7,600-square-foot home features an indoor swimming pool and indoor basketball court.
Jackson is not an Olympic swimmer, a professional basketball player or a celebrity of any sort. She is a day care provider in the city of Milwaukee.
She built her fortune with taxpayer funding from the Wisconsin Shares program.
Despite recent records that indicate Jackson was running what police and regulators refer to as a "child-care ring" - adding mothers with many kids to her payroll for the main purpose of enrolling their children in her center - the state continued to deposit thousands of dollars in her account each month. This month alone Jackson collected more than $90,000 from Wisconsin Shares.
All told, Jackson has received nearly $3 million in taxpayer-financed child-care funding since she got in the day care business in 1999.
The Wisconsin Shares program is meant to help hardworking, low-income parents get and keep jobs. An ongoing Journal Sentinel investigation has identified people swindling millions from the system.
The Jackson case shows how licensers, caseworkers and even fraud investigators haven't stopped it.

Kids locked in car seats for hours, drug use inside the day cares, etc. - and it only took years (millions of taxpayer dollars later) to shut it down.

Wow! Are they gonna take the mansion back and turn it into a kids home or something? (Please say yes) This woman belongs in prison.
And people wonder why we are so cynical about government programs.
We were in Portland, OR. a couple of weeks ago. Although they are more “peaceful” than San Francisco beggars, there are college aged kids on the streets begging for money everywhere—they'll sing you a song or write a poem but several were stoned as they asked us twice in an hour! We saw the same kids night after night. Guess they'll get their apprenticeship and then go to SF!
There is no question of "if", only "when" these taxpayer funded daycare centers open and become available in your state and counties.
The public's demands for "the government" to provide subsidized daycare for their children will never stop. For some reason these people think that it's OUR responsibility to look after their rotten little brats while they "take a break" from the tough job of parenting, and go play bingo in hopes of boosting their income for the month, because welfare just doesn't provide enough to live the kind of lifestyle they think "the government" should provide for them.
And people like this Jackson person who figure out haw to play the system will always be there to take advantage of the governments generous handouts. What's really depressing, is that unless they get a little too greedy and try take more than they should, they are breaking no laws. A person with a good sized basement can make a lot of money warehousing a bunch of infants and pre schoolers for 10 hours a day, providing the minimum required with the minimum number of daycare workers for the maximum amount of kids they can stuff in their basement.

I don't know about you, but I don't "donate" money to government. They steal it from me like the common crooks they are by acts of legislation enforced by Gestapo thugs who call me a criminal if I refuse to hand over part of my earnings.
In most if not all cities, they aren’t even collage kids, they are just street bums who play the system anyway they can. They aren’t interested in working. They jump out in traffic at traffic lights, throw some dirty water on your windshield them offer to squeegee your windshield for a “donation”. some will spit on your windshield if you refuse, and even if you give them a buck, they do a half -@ssed job.
“Squeegee kids”, with the dumb haircuts and koolaid coloring, piecings all over their faces, tatoo’s and the black leather jackets and torn up baggy jeans is the standard apparel.
Then you get the bleeding heart liberal who the Media often features on the local evening news, saying these kids are “victims” of something or other, never themselves of course, and taxpayers need to shell out more money for places for them to hang out in, feed them, and provide entertainment, pool tables, video games etc. so they can have an easier time peddling methamphetamine, get clean needles, condoms, and a methadone dispensory so those who haven’t been so sucessful threatening people on the streets for drug money, can get through the day until they can afford whatever drugs they are currently ‘exploring”.
Of course, any where near a union town should not be surprised by that.
Without even looking at the article, I am willing to make a bet about what race the swindler is.
