HONG KONG Former U.S. vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, once questioned about her lack of foreign policy experience, will make her first trip to Asia in September. The former Alaska governor will visit Hong Kong to address the CLSA Investors Forum, a well-known annual conference of global investment managers, the host announced Monday. Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Alan Greenspan have spoken at the event, hosted by brokerage and investment group CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets. "Our keynote speakers are notable luminaries who often address topics that go beyond traditional finance such as geopolitics," company spokeswoman Simone Wheeler said in a statement. "We just felt it would be a fabulous opportunity for CLSA clients to hear from Mrs. Palin," Wheeler said, adding that CLSA approached Palin with the offer. She said the conference aimed to present investors "a diversity of views that potentially influence decision-makers who help shape the markets." The Sept. 23 address will mark Palin's first commercial speaking engagement, according to CLSA. Her speaking fees were not disclosed. It will be closed to the media, and the topic has not yet been confirmed. Palin was criticized during last year's presidential election for her lack of experience in international affairs. She received her first passport in 2007 to visit Alaska National Guard members serving in Kuwait and Germany. Copyright © 2009 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.

She is needed here, now. But this is the modern world, where a couple of days in Hong Kong doesn’t take you out of anything. The test for her will be whether she shows up in a critical (not literal) way when things heat up at key points after Labor Day.
I actually think she’s gathering more power now by not being omnipresent and in the media at every opportunity. She’s probably been working on her book, which will give her more data and ammunition on the issues, and it’s up to her to select her fights and appearances carefully.
I’m thrilled that she’s not splashing herself across the TV and print media right now. I think it’s a good sign.
We’re actually counting on her to do a lot: swoop in and spare us ObamaCare, Cap and Tax, and Amnesty for illegal immigrants to name just a few initiatives. She’s smart to pace herself and to interject only at the critical junctures.
My apologies: my last response above was intended for samtheman, not stevestras.

So simple minded, so transparant.

All event requests must be confirmed with Meghan Stapleton of SarahPAC. Additionally, all invitations bearing the Governors name must be approved by her attorney before proceeding. Thank you. Meghan Stapleton

In other words, it isn't true until it is posted on Sarah Palin's Facebook page.
And who said she wasn’t going to be?
I only posited the idea in the hopes that she would attend. If she does attend I believe it would be wise to announce the fact to help boost attendence.

If she’s looking for something else to do in September she should be in Washington DC on the 12th.

AAAAAA-MEN !
That would be so awesome/.
SarahPAC has not confirmed this. This is just the latest case of event organizers with MSM cooperation touting her “invitation” without confirmation. I doubt that this is confirmed (yet), so they can trumpet another case of diva Sarah “not showing up”.
Be on guard.
Funny how the media has never expolored Obama’s 1981 spring break trip to Pakistan, Karachi to be exact...at the exact same time that Karachi was a hot bed of the mujahaddin and a jumping off point for those fighting in Afghanistan. Interesting how they never felt they had to explore that further. An Islamic country under martial law that was closed to Americans and he just waltzes right in.
Well, we know is has a U.S. one - there was that big stink during the campaign about people looking at Clinton’s and McCains’ and Obama’s passport information. But what proof is there of foreign ones?
Is this confirmed by Palin? I don't trust the AP
Some people are just better off left on their own and ignored.
Talking sense to them is like trying to teach a duck to bark.
Waste of time.
I support Palin. I’ve sent money to her PAC. Have you?
You can support someone and still worry about whether they’re doing the right thing politically, can’t you?
Or must all Palin supporters check their brains at the door?
In FR, is it either “100% agreement” or “take a walk”?
Is that what you’re proposing?
I have not only sent money, but linked to SarahPac daily. I also look to her Facebook site for current statements and announcements. It is the best place to look.
I have another antagonist on another thread that I posted with some numbers this morning...
847,033 Sarah Palin Facebook supporters -as of 11:55 am EDT... today
847,313 supporters at 3:23 pm ... to a second antagonist.
847,781 supporters as of this posting... to yours...
You are just like so many other trolls here. You like the attention, and probably have nothing else to light your fire. Why else post your drivel?
Thanks for the opportunity, though. I use these posts for sending more people to SarahPac. It's working like a charm!
So, you think since you sent her PAC some money you can jump on a thread and post to demean her?
I propose that since FR is a conservative site of common, but extraordinary people, that and we promote and protect Sarah Palin until she gives us reason not to. There are more than enough Sarah-bashers here to carry the anti-Palin banner.
I haven't read up on this thread to know if this one has been canceled yet, but I think a trip to Hong Kong to talk economics with the worlds business leaders is about as good of a use of her time as she could find.
