Bill Moyers disses Dems as 'spineless' (And Obama a sellout)
Politico ^ | August 30, 2009 | Patrick Gavin

PBS's Bill Moyers issued a tough critique of the Democratic Party on Friday night on HBO's "Real Time With Bill Maher."

Moyers said that "too many Democrats have had their spines surgically removed."

"The problem is the Democratic Party," said Moyers. "This is a party that has told its progressives — who are the most outspoken champions of health care reform — to sit down and shut up.

Moyers said that, over the years, the Democratic Party "has become like the Republican party — deeply influenced by corporate money."

"I think Rahm Emanuel understands that the money for Obama's reelection would come primarily from the health industry, the drug industry and Wall Street, and so he is a corporate Democrat"

"There's a fear that Barack Obama will become the Grover Cleveland of this era," said Moyers. Grover Cleveland was a good man, but he became a conservative Democratic president because he didn't fight the interests. ... I would much rather see Barack Obama be Theodore Roosevelt.

"I think if Obama fought, instead of finessed so much, he stood up and declared for what is really the right thing to do ... I think it would change the atmosphere."

Moyers said that conservatives have dominated the debate over health care lately. "In the last few weeks, the right wing has been winning the debate. How [Obama] lost control of the narrative, I don't understand. Well, yes, I do. He didn't find the right metaphors, as you were just saying, and he didn't speak in simple powerful moral language.

"Here's the party that lost and the conservative movement that was discredited over the last eight years .... They're setting the agenda for a Democratic Party that controls the White House, the Senate and the House. Something's wrong in that."

He's on the right track but stubbornly refuses to make the ultimate conclusion about the Chicago Machine's stooge frontman and the philosophy of this administration.

And no credit to Sarah for taking control of the debate ?

Moyers is an idiot - the money for Obowma’s reelection is coming from the same place it came last time, from the muslims in the middle east, $50 dollars at a time.

The only reason the Dems would need a spine like Moyers is to goose-step like him.

"The problem is the Democratic Party," said Moyers.

Hold that soundbite. Say no more.

It’s ironic, conservatives hate the GOP for becoming too liberal and liberals hate the DNC for not being socialist enough. It’d be nice if we all just abandoned both parties.

What is Moyers talking about? Cleveland was an excellent President who refused to give farmers handouts and such. He was probably the last great Democrat.

Bill Moyers is a quintessential elitist commie. He cannot accept the notion that the vast majority of Americans want nothing to do with his elitist, egalitarian schemes. He insists that his ideas must be accepted simply on the basis of his superior intellect. Peasants be damned is his motto.

When intellectual superior beings such as himself are in control, then nirvana will be realized, at least for themselves. Everyone else doesn’t count.

Aren’t you happy that your tax dollars are supporting his enlightened way of thinking?

Moyers has made the fatal mistake that all liberals make. He's doctrinaire on a topic he cares about, but he's off the reservation as far as credibility on one of Left Liberalism's key issues: He was a Homo Hunter in the Johnson Administration**...

WaPo: Moyers tried investigating LBJ aides for homosexuality

Here's the story as it originally appeared in the WaPo.

In any case, he's committed the cardinal sin of Leftist Liberals: he's not liberal enough. But, then, NO ONE can be liberal enough for a liberal.

** I wonder if I can post those words together on FR?

If Moyers thinks Obama is insufficiently socialist, he's just not going to ever be happy in America.

Bill: it's time to start getting drunk in Cuba, buddy. The rum is cheap, and it'll really help when you need a hernia operation at one of Fidel's free clinics.

Here's a joke a friend of mine sent me.

A man walked into a very high-tech bar. As he sat down on a stool he noticed that the bartender was a robot. The robot clicked to attention and asked, "Sir, what will you have?"

The man thought a moment then replied, "A martini please."

The robot clicked a couple of times and mixed the best martini the man had ever had.

The robot then asked, "Sir, what is your IQ?"

The man answered "oh, about 164."

The robot then proceeded to discuss the 'theory of relativity', 'inter-steller space travel', 'the latest medical break throughs', etc.......

The man was most impressed. He left the bar but thought he would try a different tack. He returned and took a seat. Again the robot clicked and asked what he would have? "A Martini please."

Again it was superb.. The robot again asked "what is your IQ sir?"

This time the man answered, "Oh about 100".

So the robot started discussing Nascar racing, the latest basketball scores, and what to expect the Dodgers to do this weekend.

The guy had to try it one more time. So he left, returned and took a stool.... Again a martini, and the question, "What is your IQ?"??

This time the man drawled out "Uh..... bout 50".

The robot clicked then leaned close and very slowly asked,

"A-r-e? y-o-u-r? p-e-o-p-l-e??? h-a-p-p-y? w-i-t-h O-B-A-M-A?????
