2009 shatters heat record (Austin, TX.)
Austin American Statesman ^ | 8.30.2009 | Chuck Lindell

This is already the hottest summer in Austin's history — shattering the previous record — but the sweltering city might not be done setting dubious milestones in 2009.

Two more days of triple digits will tie the record for the most 100-degree temperatures in a year: 69 days of lawn-killing, air conditioner-straining heat. A typical year has 12 triple-digit days. The 1925 record appears safe for at least the next few days, with highs forecast in the 90s.

what’s so weird about that... most immigrants from Cali and up North are dems. they want Texas to “learn” how to be progressive. Just like the sh#t holes they came from.

(2008) waited in line for an hour and a half to vote in the Dem Primary.

Wonder how much of that was due to 'Operation Chaos' from the Ditto heads out there.

My precinct, which is made up of homes that start at around 500k and go up to 3M voted 78% for Obama over McCain-Palin.

So I do not think there were a lot of Operation Chaos participants in my neck of the woods.

What a bunch of crybabies...A month ago I pulled into a Costco in Desert Palms, California to get gas. The thermometer under the pump canopy read 126! LOL!

I don’t think any year could be hotter in Austin than 1985.

It was 101 degrees - on Halloween - night - at 10.30.

Now that was a brutal summer.

There’s almost been a nip in the air the last two mornings.

Yup, the past 2 mornings gave us a little glimpse of Autumn, I do believe. I think the worst is finally over, thank heavens.

I wonder if they are measuring the temperature right above the concrete.

News from the Peoples Republic of Austin.

Meanwhile, the rest of Texas has seen a pretty mild summer - cooler than usual, actually.

It’s now *tolerable* outside.

If we don’t break the all-time record, oh well...

For the whiners up North.

No whining here, I'll gladly take it.

Its 46 at my house right now in S.E. Mich., tying an alltime record low.......

We bought a riding mower 2 years ago (with the Bush rebate) and have used it about 6 or 7 times. (already had to replace the battery)

We’re ready when the weather pattern changes.

I feel for the folks who are suffering.
Here in west Georgia it’s been one of the coolest
summers I can remember.
We went through a period in the 80s when we had
two months of +100 temps, it was horrible!

I know ya’ll are coming out of a serious drought.

Same here in South Texas. Combine the dry with the heat and they feed off each other.

"...I think the worst is finally over, thank heavens. ..."

You can say that again!

They say suffering builds character. Well, I'm done with my 4-month character-building exercise. Bring on the cool!

I was born, raised, and continue to live in (San Antonio) Texas. This is the hottest summer I have seen.

Well, we did have a real cold one last year and due to the cycles I suspect we have several more, maybe a few more ahead of us.......

Accuweather's Joe Bastardi

Do a google on that guy, he has an interesting history. Ex-professional body builder and one time coach for the olympic wrestling team I belive.
