Just before Thanksgiving last year, a group of former aides to Mitt Romney convened at his salmon-colored Belmont home, many of them gathering for the first time since Romney had disbanded his presidential campaign some nine months before. Romney had invited them for a post-mortem of the election weeks earlier, the type of dispassionate assessment that the Harvard Business School alumnus so enjoyed. But over cookies, they found few of the metrics for success that Romney prized -- Republicans had been decisively thumped at all levels -- and his attention shifted from 2008 to the future.

Plenty of consultants who worked for the Bushes have moved to Romney. Jeb is looking to 2016. Tim Pawlenty is working on being the anti-Romney candidate. Yesterday on CNN, Pawlenty praised Palin and criticized both RomneyCare and ObamaCare.

it is not out of the question that Romney will do a complete implosion in ‘12. He cannot win IOWA, and New Hampshire gave him a cold reception without any competition from the Right.
I do not think Jeb is planning to run, but it isn’t out of the question if there is a clear path to the nomination in the depths of the Obama depression.
Many knee-jerk conservatives will sign up for Jeb ‘12 the same way that they signed up for George ‘88 and George ‘00.
