Mother Angelica described it once like a mudroom of Heaven where we must wash off our earthly sins before we are allowed in. Nothing unpure is allowed in Heaven. I have my doubts that teddy made it even to Purgatory, judging from his letter to the Pope he was trying to sell himself not confess his sins IMHO.
That's a great analogy! We're coming home, but we need to clean up a bit before going in the house. ;o)
