Dear Friends,
Over the last several months, I have spoken with many of you about your concerns of the skyrocketing costs of health insurance, anxiety about losing your coverage, and answered your questions about the comprehensive health care legislation being considered in Congress. Most recently, I completed my State of Sacramento's Health Care Tour, where I saw first-hand the constraints on our current health care system. Touring hospitals, community clinics, and meeting with patients, nurses and doctors all across the region, one thing was clear: we cannot afford the status quo.
Right now, 72,000 Sacramentans are without health insurance, and tens of thousands more are concerned about paying higher premiums, losing coverage, and facing insurmountable medical bills. We have an opportunity to make real changes in the ways that insurance companies do business, and reform our health care system to ensure that medical decisions are made between you and your doctor, not by an insurance company.
As your representative in Congress, I am interested in hearing your thoughts on health insurance reform. With this in mind, please take a minute to answer the following survey so that I know where you stand on this critical issue of reforming our health insurance system and making quality, affordable health care available for Sacramento families.
