Should Corporal Punishment play a role in schools?
A state task force recommends CP be banned in schools. It would ban: spanking, paddling, slapping with rulers and more. Although not used much in AZ, it is commonly employed in other states.
Corporal punishment be banned.
Minor forms of corporal punishment are acceptable, like spanking and using rulers.
Corporal punishment should be banned in public schools only.
All forms of corporal punishment should be allowed.
The government should spend their time on other important issues.

In elementary school I got spanked once (with a ping-pong paddle!) for getting in a fist fight with another student. I don’t think I started it (it was a LOOOOOONG time ago - in the late 60’s). These days I’d probably get expelled for actually fighting back.
So I’m all for “corporal punishment” if it short circuits the idiotic decision making process that seems to governs schools these day.
I never got a spanking at school—BECAUSE I KNEW that if I ever did, my Dad would be waiting for me with a Switch when I got home!!! Where did the good parents go? Well, guess we All know the answer to that one too!

Ban. It would just be another tool in the leftist arsenal to punish dissenters.
I do think teachers should be allowed to restrain someone engaged in violence.
Absolutely...corporal punishment for the parents of all these out of control kids.
I'm fairly certain that Proverbs was written in Hebrew, or that is to say that it's a biblical verse, not an English saying.
Reminds me of a FReeper tag line I've seen. "Never pick a fight with an old man. If he's too old to fight he'll just kill you."
Simple and effective response. I like it.
Same here. It probably worked then because there was more common sense in schools than there is now. Now they'd probably swat a boy for pretending his finger is a gun, pointing it at another little boy and saying "Bang". I doubt my father would have reinforced punishment for that when I got home. Or any number of other so called "offenses" at modern public schools.
It didn't hurt me, and I got thwacked by the grade school principal, and the junior high gym teacher.
You'da had a good time "taking apart" the gym teacher. He was a little guy, about 5' 8". But he could bench press 235 and had been a drill sergeant in the Marines.
There was no "abuse" involved, just a sobering change in my perspective.
