I wonder the same.

This smells a little odd.

I’d like to see what information comes out over the next week.

Kidnappers usually tell young kids that their parents have “given” the kids to them, or don’t want them anymore, or some such thing. Kids are very impressionable and these people have power over them.

There was a little boy kidnapped in California years ago named Steven Stayner. His kidnapper and another man told him that his family couldn’t afford him and didn’t want him anymore. He was kept in an isolated cabin on the Mendocino coast, sexually molested, moved around, and then finally even allowed to go to school because he had been so thoroughly brainwashed. It was only when he got “too old” for his kidnapper and the man went out and kidnapped another child that Steven Stayner suddenly rebelled and escaped, taking the other child with him to the police.

Sadly, the whole family was destroyed. His brother, Cary Stayner, became a serial killer in the California parks, and Steven Stayner himself died in a motorcycle accident.

So who knows what happened to this girl.

She was scared out of her mind for most of the time, just a guess but a pretty good one.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Elizabeth Smart had the opportunity to escape but didn't either. Who knows what is going on in the minds of these very traumatized children.

When I was 7 I was stopped by a stranger. I was walking in a rather isolated section of the neighborhood. He exposed himself and forced me to handle his genitals. I did not tell my parents for nearly 6 months. In my little 7 year old brain I felt that it was my fault and I was deeply ashamed.

That's a perfectly reasonable question. Brainwashing of a child is one thing, but this woman is now 29. If she was not physically imprisoned, it's hard to conceive of any explanation for her not revealing her identity.
