While many members of Congress have spent their summer recess getting yelled at by constituents at unruly town-hall meetings, Rep. Doris Matsui has opted for a quieter approach.
The Sacramento Democrat has not hosted a single town hall meeting this month and has no plans to do so before Congress returns to work in September to tackle a $1 trillion health care bill. She's sponsoring only one event next week, where constituents can call her on the telephone to ask questions.

"I'm not taking away anything from some of the town halls that have been going on," Matsui said Wednesday. "But it seemed to me that not everybody got heard and sometimes the loudest people in the room overwhelmed some of the thoughtful ones who really wanted to ask a question. So I felt this is the best way to proceed."

Having her as a rep. is like not having one at all.
Translation: you unwashed rubes are too ignorant to realize just how privileged you are to have me "represent" you. Now sit down, shut up, and go back to eating mud.
And, she's untouchable. There are over 100k SEIU members in her district.
When she retires, or dies, she'll be replaced by another progressive.
It's too bad...she can't even make change at the grocery store.
She is a member of a criminal organization masquerading as a political party, no more.
I’d be scared too.

Her district is about 60% Dem and she has NEVER agreed to a public debate with an opponent. Your average 17 year old public school civic student could mop the floor with her in a debate.
The first question at the Dan Lungren (CA-3) town hall last nigh was from a frustrated Matsui constituent who couldn’t get a meeting with her and she’s hosting no public town halls. So he came to ours - it was funny and sad all at the same time. And Dan didn’t besmirch him for not being from “our” district like some of the reps have - there were no ID checks to make sure we all live in the 3rd - he took his question and he answered it.
