"If the federal government gets it's way, and the supreme court sided with them the Constitution would be completely irrelevant. The only choice then would be to leave the Union and\or another civil war. The federal government clearly has no constitutional power to interfere with the States on issues like these."

That's good philosophical thinking. Still, I don't believe for a second the the Military of today would KILL their family members. Most likely we would see a Military coup, or the least a mutiny within the middle ranks of the military. Can you really see Marines marching through the streets and killing American citizens? I don't - this is not Selma, Alabama of the 1970's.

They believe in their Oath, and demonstrators are not domestic enemies. Those guys get it, plus they are really pissed of on how they've pissed on of late. Talk to a Marine or Army grunt. Ask them if they would fire on their citizens who are fed up with the Marxist tendencies of this administration.

I was a simple Aviation Sailor for 11 years on a flight deck, and even us know-nothing non-political Sailors ocassionally discussed if we had to launch aircraft with Marines aboard against our own countrymen. EVERYONE said no. We knew it not only to be "wrongful orders", but just wouldn't do it. The Marines thought the same thing. It won't happen today, either.

Be careful what we wish for as there are always unintended consequences.

“Still, I don’t believe for a second the the Military of today would KILL their family members. “

No, but they would move against a compound or enclave of extremist radicals who are suspected of making bombs, molesting children, and posessing machine guns.

They won’t necessarily move against a neighborhood, you are right.

I read that most of the african-americans in the armed forces voted for BHO. Would they side with the citizens or BHO?

Demonstrators at Kent State were shot during the hippie years of the civil rights era. Are you sure that no one would fire on civilians?

I too believe that most of the military would side with the states. But I do have the questions noted above.

That is why BHO is establishing a civilian security force just as well trained and equipped as the military. I think funding has already been passed, and the military budet was cut, unless I am not remembering correctly.
