U.S. Says Rendition to Continue, but With More Oversight

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration will continue the Bush administration’s practice of sending terrorism suspects to third countries for detention and interrogation, but pledges to closely monitor their treatment to ensure that they are not tortured, administration officials said Monday.

Human rights advocates condemned the decision, saying that continuing the practice, known as rendition, would still allow the transfer of prisoners to countries with a history of torture. They said that promises from other countries of humane treatment, called “diplomatic assurances,” were no protection against abuse.

“It is extremely disappointing that the Obama administration is continuing the Bush administration practice of relying on diplomatic assurances, which have been proven completely ineffective in preventing torture,” said Amrit Singh, a lawyer with the American Civil Liberties Union, who tracked rendition cases under President George W. Bush.

The Obama administration has quietly approved the continued Bush policy of rendition. It is now completely obvious, even to the casual observor, that the Obama administration is going after the CIA for political purposes.

Kind of like a city saying:

The police will still be in business, but no yelling, no weapons, no touching, and no running are allowed. All captives must get in the police car on their own, without touching, violence, or coercion. Incentives are allowed, such as offers of cash and free meals. Officers must speak in a calm voice.

These captives may be asked to go into a jail cell, but the doors must not be locked. If they want to leave, they are free to. If they choose to stay, the may choose to go to a restaurant if they don’t like the chow. These individuals shall be given $50 per meal.

REALITY has begun to intrude on the lies the Democrats have been telling the sheeple for years now...

Soldiers and civilians continue to die, but NBC/MSNBC hasn’t run the nightly SOLDIER Death Count that they ran for 6+ years, EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, since the night Obama was elected.

The hypocrisy is incredible and undeniable...

Notice the rush to show coffins arriving back in the US has disappeared. I wonder why?

It was inexcusable for the Bush Administration to do such but because the Barry Administration claims they will have more oversight, it makes it ok.....right.

Imho, I think the NYT in conjunction with the White House is just putting their own “it's us so it's ok” spin on the the story. They're hoping that their left of center base doesn't notice, but instead is focused on their “investigation” of the CIA “torture”. Dog and pony show, smoke and mirrors, politics as usual, whatever you want to call it.

The gloves are going to come off on this. We may have warfare between different institutions in the executive branch of government. My money is on " Christians in Action."

What a banana republic Obama has brought forth, just as he planned.
