Saudi Religious Police Crack Down on 'Evil' Circuses (islamic loons)
Foxnews ^ | 8/26/2009 | Staff

Religious police in Saudi Arabia are cracking down on summer festivals and circuses intended by the government to boost domestic tourism, because they violate strict religious restrictions on singing, dancing, the mixing of unrelated men and women, and "evil" circus performances, Reuters reported.

Conservative clerics backed by powerful members of the Saudi royal family oppose the efforts to liberalize the world's biggest oil exporter. Circus acts such as fire-eating and lying on a bed of glass are seen as forms of magic outlawed by Sharia law.

"These acts contradict the faith and must not be done, taught, spread or encouraged," Reuters quoted religious police spokesman Abdullah al-Mashiti. "They must be fought and those performing them must be reported and punished so as to be deterred and their evil restricted."

But you can fly to heaven on a winged horse and that's OK.

That’s pretty funny as well as horrible. Surely the educated Muslims know that circus acts aren’t “magic.” But they’re happy to keep the less sophisticated believing that that the fire-eater casts spells like Harry Potter. Clearly much of Islam thrives on keeping the people ignorant and perpetually aggrieved.

Sorry Timmy, the circus is offensive to the ROP and you cannot go to see it.

The above sounds like one part of the Saudi government started these "festivals and circuses", but then another part countermanded the first part and shut them down.

This is ridiculous, but they might have a point about banning clowns. I understand that images of Mohammad are forbidden.

"There are no activities here, and when they do have activities they are not accessible to women," said Samar Edrees, who travels abroad regularly to escape the restrictions. "Here they have festivals that only target children and men, there is nothing for us to do and there are no cinemas."

Sharia law -- coming soon to a country near you.

-------------------------------------------
From the time that the roar of rocket engines rumbled across the lagoons of Florida's Atlantic coast to the almost flawless touchdown at Edwards Air Base in California, Mission 51-G was what one American space agency official called "one of the most successful missions" in the space program. ... The crew in fact was special - it included astronauts of three nations, including Prince Sultan ibn Salman ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz Al Sa'ud of Saudi Arabia, the first Arab, the first Muslim and the first member of royalty in space.
... Prince Sultan carried out a series of in-cabin experiments designed by Saudi scientists, talked to his uncle, King Fahd, by telephone from space, gave a guided tour of the space shuttle's interior in Arabic, which was beamed back to Arab television viewers on earth, and also found time to pray and to read the Koran.

-------------------------------------------

NASA flew the prince
to try to convince Arabs
the world isn't flat.

One generation
learns the earth is round, the next
learns clowns might be safe...

That is hilarious.

Thanks for the info on Mission 51-G. Clearly there is a vast gap between the rich and educated Muslim and the poor dupes who are kept in line with religious taboos.

"But you can fly to heaven on a winged horse and that's OK."

Horse? It was a donkey. Those Muzzies are growing pedophile Moe larger and larger as the years go on.

Now as far as these religious police go, aren't they being somewhat hypocritical, when Islam itself is evil practiced, in fact Satan was constantly with Mohammad and was in fact his 'god' who he called Ar-Rahman, then later allah? Bukhari:V6B60N475 "Allah's Apostle became sick and could not offer his prayer. A lady came and said, 'Muhammad! I think that your Satan has forsaken you, for I have not seen him with you for two or three nights!' On that Allah revealed: 'By the night when it darkens, your Lord has neither forsaken you, nor hated you.'" [93:1]

Muslim:C14B39N6757 "Allah's Messenger said: 'There is none amongst you with whom is not an attaché from amongst the jinn, a devil.' The Companions said: 'Allah's Messenger, is there a devil with you too?' Thereupon he said: 'Yes, but Allah helps me against him so I am safe from his hand and he does not command me but for good.'"

The devil commanded Mohammad, but only for "good"?

I guess these Imams never thought to consider what Satan considers "good" isn't what Yahweh, the God of Abraham considers "good".

I wonder what he read? perhaps He read:

Tabari I:234 "Then the Prophet said: 'For the sun and the moon, Allah created easts and wests on the two sides of the earth and the two rims of heaven. There are 180 springs in the west of black clay-this is why Allah's word[ Koran 18:86] says: "He found the sun setting in a muddy spring." The black clay bubbles and boils like a pot when it boils furiously.'"

Qur'an 18:83 "They ask you about Dhu'l-Qarnain [Alexander the Great]. Say, 'I will cite something of his story. We gave him authority in the land and means of accomplishing his goals. So he followed a path until he reached the setting place of the sun. He saw that it set in black, muddy, hot water. Near it he found people."

I wonder if this "Prince" told his people he saw where the sun set in muddy springs.

Tabari I:244 "Allah then created for the sun a chariot with 360 handholds from the luminosity of the light of the Throne and entrusted 360 of the angels inhabiting the lower heaven with the sun and its chariot, each of them gripping one of those handholds. Allah also entrusted 360 angels with the moon."

And that he saw the suns chariot and the angels that carried it back and forth from that muddy pond, back to the east.

Tabari I:232 "Gabriel brings to the sun a garment of luminosity from the light of Allah's Throne according to the measure of the hours of the day. The garment is longer in the summer and shorter in the winter, and of intermediate length in autumn and spring. The sun puts on that garment as one of you here puts on his clothes."

No doubt the prince tried to snag one of those garments for himself with the shuttles arm.
